FYI- I ordered on-line a #2 -2 shield for my 05 LT and when I installed it I noticed (screen set to lowest postiion) that the top lip was much higher than my "BMW Tall Screen" that comes with the bike. After talking w/Cee Bailey customer service it appears that they sent me a "Standard size" screen but the packing list description was a +2. The customer service rep tell me that the packing list was mistaken and that they sent me a standard size shield which measure from middle to top 48" - exactly the size of the BMW Tall Windshield. I guess the lip adds alot more height.

In any event, Im confused over the whole thing. Im not certain what screen was really sent but I sent it back - on my dime - and re-ordered a -4 via the customer service rep.

Hope this thread keeps others from making the same mistake I made.

My guess is they sent you a +2.

I have the #2 minus 4 and think it's great. Tall enough when you need it.
Which is 20" up the center.

Also has a nice sporty look.

You'll be glad you got it.

Jim:

They messed up my order the first time also but were very good at getting me the shield that I ordered.

I have a -3 with wings and like it very much.

Jim,

I got a standard 24", grey tint, lip & wings at the RA rally. I notice that I don't have to have it raised as much as the standard shield. About 1/2 inch. I have the seat in the high position plus an air hawk on top & am 73" tall. I like mine. ($100.00) at the rally. had some defect somewhere?

I ordered a -2". Sent it back and was sent a -3" replacement... got it... then got another one. Was billed twice also.

Still like the wind sheild and would recomend them. Is a bit of difference in height though.

Do you guys have any pictures of the Cee Bailey shields mounted on your LT? I rode my new-to-me LT home from VT this past weekend and really do not like the tall BMW shield that is on it. I have an RT with the Cee Bailey euro cut and it looks very sporty. Maybe it will help to lighten the look of the LT.

Hey Steve,

Look at this post (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2507) in the Classifieds for some good pics of a Cee Bailey #2 with wings on an LT. I don't know how tall his is, and it's the standard top cut. Cee Bailey will make you one with a Euro cut if you wish. I have the standard cut, and I'm planning on cutting down to the Euro-shaped top cut when I get a couple of free hours. OK, when I can find time that I'd rather work on the bike than ride it. :)

Hi,
take a look at the pix of my bike in the gallery under "Truly Custom LT" title. I have CB #2 -4" that is also dark tinted. I am 6" tall. I like to look over my windshield when I ride. I have noticed with stock BMW windshield I had to raise it higher to reduce windblast off my face. I think it's because the stock windshield (not eurocut) flattens around the top and that puts more air right in my face. At night or when colder I even have to look through it.

The CB one is simply excellent. The slight curve in the windshield deflects the windblast slightly above my face at a lower windshield position, too. Now I find myself using only about 1-1.5 inches of vertical adjustment for the windshield to get great wind protection.

Also a plus - new windshield greatly reduces glare of idiot lights at night - this used to bother me a lot, but is not an issue anymore.

And I really love the way this windshield looks on my bike.

Cee-Bailey has the following disclaimer:

Disclaimer: The mechanism which raises and lowers your windshield may not work at higher speeds due to the wind load if you order a larger than stock size shield.

Does anyone have experience / problems with this potential issue??

I have the #2 -2, which is close to the stock size, and YES....it gets sluggish around 70 indicated and konks out all together around 80 when trying to raise the shield.

Just slow down, re-adjust, and you're good to go.

Yes ,due to the extra wind pressure due to design curvature feature. Simply push button with left thumb and with right hand gently push on windshield and it will raise. Works for me at all speeds. Only a problem on mine at speeds in excess of 60 mph. Had same issue with the laminar lip.

I replaced my windshield with the #2 -4" w/o wings and the motor, which was also replaced at the same time, will not raise or lower it over 15 mph. Very annoying. If I had known this, I would not have bought the CB windshield.

My Cee Bailey #2 -3 with wings works just fine. Goes up or down at any speed like the OEM shield did.

Hi Brian,

this is not normal. Have you lubed all the joints in the screen raising mechanism? If they are dry, the unit stalls easily, but if properly lubed it should easily handle the load of your windshield. I have the same CB #2 -4 and mine works fine up to 130 - 140 km/h.

Thanks Ari,
I had some damage to the motor mechanism and my dealer replaced it with a brand new one. They are usually very good so I assume they lubricated everything. I'll have to bring it to their attention, but I'm afraid they will blame the problem on the CB windshield. We'll see. Thanks again.

Hey Brian,
Hope all is well with you. I have had zero problems with the -3 w/wings. Raises and lowers at any speed. Something is amiss with your motor or supports.
Are you riding this winter?

Hi Bob, Yea, I'm going to have to have CCBMW take a look at the new motor. After hearing from you and some others it is clear that the problem is not with the CB windshield. Probably a defective motor.

I have ridden just about every week so far. Pretty cold sometimes, but I don't mind much. Shoot me a PM if you want to ride. Also, check the northeast forum. Looks like a New Years day ride is shaping up.

My Cee Bailey -4 with wings will be here Dec 3rd. Anyone know how hard it is to take the chrome covers off the struts so I can get at the screws. Any advice is appreciated.

Pull the covers from the outside of the windshield toward the center. The will come off with some effort.

I just purchased a C-Bailey #2-4 with wings from Tony at LTParts.com, Before Tony knew what was going on we had the c-Baily on my bike with the stock shield strapped to the rear seat and I was ready to ride home, 8 hours from Dallas. I absouloutly loved it. Miss E rode with me with no complaints. Returned to Dallas with Miss E, she still had no complaints. Arrived back home still with no complaints. The stock shield is in the spare bedroom! C-Bailey is on the bike!

I have two Cee's a #2 -6 Clear, and a #2 -6 Ice Blue Euro. Neither affects the motor at any speed. Even the BMW Tall I have does not affect the motor at speeds.

As you can see I have 2 too many shields

Hi

I noted the following from Praxis

"I'm planning on cutting down to the Euro-shaped top cut when I get a couple of free hours."

Does anyone know the best procudeure for "topping" a screen. I have a Cee Bailey that is about 1 " too tall on full down which means it is interfering with with my field of view. I would like to remove a shallow section but not sure how to make it look attractive.

Any perspex workers out there that have some tips?
