Hello,

I had only ridden one BMW before today, an LT, and it was an improvement over my VTX1800R, and I was very impressed with how well it carried itself.

Today I was like a kid at Christmas. I got to ride every model I wanted, and did so 2-up to be sure m'lady liked the ride, cause if mama's not happy ain't nobody happy.

So, if for no other reason than for your amusement, I'm posting my riding impressions

I'm 42, 6'2, 235 pounds, m'lady is 5'4, we like 4/5 hour half day rides a few times a week and touring every couple months. I come from Metric cruisers recently, and the old general purpose bikes CB550, KZ750 Twin way back when.

First Bike: '07 K1200GT. Ranked last by m'lady for comfort, I really enjoyed the power on tap, but couldn't see myself using that power much in my daily riding, and its smooth buzzy vibe was pleasant, I opened it up a couple times and the power rush is impressive, made me wish I could ride it on a track and let it scream the way it wanted to.

Second bike: '07 R1200RT. Ranked third by m'ady for comfort, I liked the more rational riding position, and I got my first ever tast of the R engine, with its visceral pulsing felt great. I took it on the same route as the GT, and I it pulled nicely, I was liking the torque coming out of the same corners as the GT, and the overall ride feel was making me happy. I discoverd I'm a R guy all the way, nothing against inlines.

Third Bike: '07 R1200GS Adventure: Ranking second in overall comfort by m'lady. As soon as I sat on this bike I said "oh, yea". It brought back all the fun feeling I had when I was a kid on my Yamaha DT175, and man that bike handles imperfections small and large in the asphalt. It flicks, it does real tight fiqure 8's, it translate road feel sooooo nice.
I took it up a loose gravel road, and felt totally confident, and it occured to me that loose sand or gravel on a blind curve, would be better managed with this bike if my loose gravel road was any indication. So, yea, I feel in love with the Adventure, fun fun fun, and a living heartbeat of the boxer to boot.

Fourth Bike 07 K1200LT: Number one in comfort for my lady ( big shock). After ridng the Adventure, I was having a hard time with the Way-smooth ride of the LT. It was a great ride, really, great, smooth, easy, smooth, easy.... until I came to a stop and it let me know it was there.
M'lady made my day when she said " It's not as fun as the Adventure" Oh sweet music to my ears.

Fifth ride: just for fun, solo a F model, nice little sporty in -line twin, m'lady didn't like the seat.

What would the hard core negotiators consider a great price on a 07 GS adv w/no abs. What is dealer invoice on these bikes? Are there BMW holdbacks or incentives to the dealer on this model? Is $15,350 too low to shoot for?
What should I ascertain the value of luggage to be to add to the value of a used model? What are the most expensive, most common accessories after the luggage?

Thanks for any and all feedback!

FWIW I liked all the bikes, they were all great, and I hope I didn't cause offense to anyone, any shortcoming is more a reflection of my riding style and preference then is a fault in the bike.

Oh yea:

WTB: 06 or 07 K1200GS or a loaded 04-05 :-)

You had a fun day. Sounds like you found the equivalent of the BMW demo truck with no lines. May I ask where?
