I just returned from a nearly month long trip on my R1200GS Adventure. There was bad weather
There was a bike failure
There were road closures
There were complete changes from the original plan

The trip was nothing like I had planned or expected, but everything I could have hoped for. Other than suffering a small electrical part failure that interrupted the trip in the middle the bike was wonderful. I was in an unfortunate weather cycle for some of the trip, but my riding gear and the bikes gear were completely up to the challenge. Everything, including me, stayed dry. The things I saw, the people I met and the time I had were among the best ever. I have put together a set of pages of text and pictures on my website, the link is here (http://www.prades.net/alaska2007/day0.html).

About time you showed up. :D

Nice trip writeup and pictures, Randy! I like the wildlife shots. "Bears, oh my!"

Sorry to hear about losing a week because of your bike failure and an unimaginative dealer. That must have been frustrating. Looks like you made the best of it though. Welcome back to the real world.

How did the CC work out?The CC was invaluable and flawless. It worked well in all conditions and at any reasonable speed. I don't think it could hold 100mph up hill at altitude, but it held 80 up a 5 or 6% grade at 6500 feet.

Outstanding photos and commentary, Randy! I'm envious.
I'm going to show my naivete here, but what's a CC?

Kevin - I think he's talking Cruise Control here. He's got one of the newer developed aftermarket units and put it to the test on his trip.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't even know one could purchase an after market electronic cruise control. I had a Throttlemeister on my R1150RS & was constantly adjusting it to keep a constant speed. It was one of the many reasons I switched to the LT.
