Greetings to all. Some time back I started a thread asking for route advice in traveling across Canada to end up in Bend, OR. I got some great suggestions and just a lot of support, which I appreciated. I leave tomorrow on a leisurely run from Connecticut and New York, and then Ontario to British Columbia before turning south to Washington and Oregon. I will only get to see a tiny portion of your great country, but I'm looking forward to the ride. For anyone who is interested, a map of my tentative itinerary can be found here: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=113998826537533182847.0000011368411ef38260a&ll=47.398349,-96.943359&spn=43.634167,82.265625&z=4&om=1
You can zoom in and out, follow the route day by day, etc. Check out the "Hybrid" view and zoom way in on Day 8 and Day 9. Can't wait to get an up close and personal view of those mountains.

So, if you see a '99 red LT laden with camping gear heading west, I probably am the rider and you can bet that my grin is ear to ear. Thanks again for your route advice.

Let me be the first on the site to wish you a wonderful trip across North America, Bill. I for one will be checking the map and looking forward to the pictures that you post. A Connecticut Yankee is off and "riding".

Looks like a grand trip.

Just a suggestion but day 3 looks very long. North of the Soo, you will be travelling through some spectacular areas with hillside views of Lake Superior. You might want to consider stopping at Lake Superior Provincial Park which is further south than Obatanga. That would let you stop and see the Indian pictographs right on the shore of Lake Superior as well. It would add a little more to day 4 of course.

Hi

Not to try to sell my city you might want to either stop short and stay in Moose Jaw or carry on to Medicine Hat for your stop. Not much in Swift but gophers. I grew up 30 miles east in Gull Lake. Watch out if you have a strong wrist around Gull lake and Maple Creek them mounties like patroling the highway.

Daniel

P.S I missed that your a camper it would be worth your while to go south of Maple Creek about thirty miles to the Cypress Hills Provincal Park it is were two glaciers met and the highest point between Ont and the Rockies.

Are you the same guy that used to have a honda valkerie? if so I did your trip cross country that you did a while back. Then I heard you had a accident on the next trip you took. Hope it's you and that you are enjoying riding again.
God's speed and safety on this trip
