Just looked at the LCRA (Lower Colorado River Authority-they operate the dams around Austin) web site. Starke Dam at Marble Falls has all 10 floodgates open right now and there is still very heavy rain fall over the area.

This is from their site:
A major flood is in progress on the Highland Lakes. Lake Travis is forecast to rise above 685 ft msl within the next few hours and to rise to about 690 ft msl later today based on rainfall that has already fallen. Floodgate operations are occuring or are expected to occur on all the Highland Lakes and dams. The Llano River at Llano is above flood stage. Sandy Creek near Kingsland appears to have crested earlier this morning above bankfull but below flood stage. The National Weather Service is issuing updated forecasts for the lower river. Based on planned releases from the Highland Lakes, the Colorado River at Austin, Bastrop, Smithville, La Grange and Wharton are expected to rise above bankfull stage but remain below flood stage. Forecasts and floodgate operations will be updated in the sections below as conditions change.

Here in the Chicago area, we had 5 inches within minutes. I just happened to be riding within those said minutes. The BC said temp was 99 when I got on her. During the pour it read 76. Through the mesh that felt good! :D

Sooo... how long do you think it will take for the "official" folks to admit the drought is over?

I suppose we can quit prayin' for rain now?

I watched that line of showers and storms heading down to the Hill Country and cancelled planned activity for today (vet visit and some storage unit re-arranging). I had followed it all the way from the panhandle area southward. Forecast to hit Boerne around 0700 or so. Looked pretty severe for points W and NE of here. Blanco wuz getting 7-8" or so, and the yellow had turned to lotsa red. Same thang over toward Bandera and Medina.

Well, it's 1030 and nary a drop here in Boerne!!! I bet the wx dudes are pulling their hair - no way to forecast this kinda action. Cloud flow is now northward!!

I'm gonna go wash ole Toad!!! :histerica

I heard the same thing about the Marble Falls area and the Hill Country in general. 20" in 24hrs is insane. I heard they opened flood gates that hadn't been open in 50 or so years. Hope it ends soon for all of you in the area and that you are safe.

Just saw the news and Marble Falls is flat out MESSED UP.It showed 1 business that 7 or 8 trucks but could only find 2 of them at this time and they where both wrapped around trees about a quarter mile down the road. No drinkin water,but... thank GOD no major injuries and NO deaths

hmmm.... flood gates, run by the govamint that actually worked 50 years later? Will miracles never cease?

Now, all the folks "downstream" from the "flood gates" have problems...

I think the 'drought' is over...

Pretty amazing that not so far away, in Eastern TN, and northern AL and GA the drought is the worst since they began recording the data, 118 years ago!

We need Roman viaducts between TX and here now. :)

Dallas/Fort Worth Area here, too...forecast has been revised AGAIN, now making it "thunderstorms and up to 2 inches or more of rain" through next wednesday...

for those keeping track, if that happens, that would be 26 straight DAYS with that forecast and (if you include evenings) those results.

and three kids 13 or younger killed so far because of flash floods.

1. I think I now understand the "propeller" roundel design
2. When is the Farkel King coming up with the rear drive outboard motor conversion so I can actually RIDE again?
3. my house wasn't built with a basement, but I think it has one now

and

4. Does the hall of wisdom have any .pdf files on how to build an ark?

I pussed out this morning. It was coming down so hard you couldn't see the trees outside the gearage on the other side of the drive, so I took la trucka.

Water was coming over the roads in huge sheets, and we aren't talking about low water crossings. Amazing, simply amazing. Some of the culverts were white water.

I drove ole Blue down to the storage unit to see if all the crickets had drowned yet (damn thangs are every where)! Nope - still a few hangin' from the rafters.

Drove down Hauptstrasse (Main Street) and crossed the town bridge - no ducks nor geese. Man, there's usually 40-50 of 'em panhandlin' in the River Road park. Axed one of the yokels if they'd been washed downstream? Nope - said they all booked a second story room at the Holiday Inn Express!! High ground, as it were.
