I am totally frustrated! I purchased a 1997 K1100LT from a party in Pittsburg, Pa. a while back and the seller had lost the title. I rode the bike back to Northern Indiana and withheld part of the selling price for the bike until he came up with a title.
He applied for a lost title and it took 5+ weeks to be delivered! He finally sent it to me and I went to get it transferred into my name and get plates for the bike to find out that he needed to have his signature notarized! Plus it has taken so long that I have to have him fill out a new bill of sale so I don't get charged $21.00 for late fees! I called him and sent the title back to him to complete the action required yesterday.
My frustration is that I have missed any of the riding weather we had for the last 2 months! Snow in the forecast for the next week and the bike sets in the shop waiting for an identity.
Oh well, just a rant. I'll just have to squeeze in a day or two here and there once it is settled.
Thanks for listening.

You can always ride to Florida to release some of that aggravation. :)

Just try to be patient Woody. All your ducks will be in a row soon enough. Hope to see you at LT Spring Training Camp. :)

Thanks you guys for the consoling words.
I have resigned myself to the fact this is going to be a lengthy process and once again has showed me to never, never, never buy something that isn't 100% a done deal at the time of the money exchange. I have the tendency to trust too much and I get burnt most of the time in doing so. My bad and I'll just have to trust less. I never use e-bay for that reason and on the up side, I have all winter to get this matter resolved for STC in the spring.

Hey Woody, sorry your hav'n all them troubles with the paper work on your new ride and sure hope it's all resolved soon. On the other hand, we don't hear much from you anymore and it's nice to know that your still alive and kick'n. From what I'm seeing on the recent weather maps I'm thinking you might should have spent some of that money on a snow mobile! Then you wouldn't have to wait for Spring to go for a spin! Anyway, good luck with your new bike and hope to see ya at the Iron Horse.

I bought my bike from someone after it didn't sell on ebay. There were several problems getting the Title transferred, even though we thought it would go smoothly. He had financing with BMW Finance and had to pay the loan off to get the title. The paying off went smoothly, but BMW somehow lost the title although they acknowledge receiving it. After the seller got enough documentation together to satisfy the DMV, there was a 4 week wait to get the duplicate title, and that was the mailing date. He finally got the title, signed it over and had it notarized and expressed it to me. The best part is the gentleman I bought it from was nice enough to loan me his plates and registration, met me half way for inspection and to close the deal, and helped load it on the trailer. I'm not sure if this was fully legal, but at that moment it could have been legally his and he was just loaning it to me in case I had a problem. I did put an insurance binder on the bike just in case I bought it and wrote a policy once I had it home. There was a lot of trust both ways in this deal, and although there were delays because of BMW, everything was relatively pain free. The whole experience made me very pleased there are still a lot of good and honest people in the world. Sorry you had problems, but don't give up on other people because of it.
