I am planning a trip to K-town next weekend. I used to spend a lot of time there a long time ago. I would like to find a Mom and Pop motel near there. Needs to be clean and I would like a pool. Not really interested in one that caters to MC only. Any ideas? Also good things to see and roads to ride? Looking for 50-100 mile trips since I will be riding there. Thanks.

I live in Alcoa, just outside of Knoxville.
If I were you I would stay in Townsend, it is about 30 miles just outside of Knoxville. That is the area that you would probably want to base from to do all of your riding. It is at the foot of the mountains and all of the good cool riding will be 50 to 100 miles from that point.
Top of the world.
Deals gap (stay away from unless your a real good rider and carry good ins.)
Cherohalia
441 over the mts. to Cherokee early in the am is probably the best ride around here, but you have to be on it no later than 6:00 am. Kind of a traffic thing. You will have to fight the traffic on your way back unless you make a day of it in Cherokee and start back over around 9:00 in the evening.
Hope that this helps.
If you have anymore questions just pm me and or if you get broke down while your here do not hesitate to give me a holler.
I have a garage with tools and I know the best mechanic for the bmw's that just lives up the road in Dandridge, I do believe that they call him David Shealy, and they say that he know's his stuff.

There is a lot of nice stuff out that way. The road thru Dandridge is nice. A lot of nice roads out there around Knoxville, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge. Stay AWAY from Cades Cove. Too crazy slow for motorcycle. RLV pretty much nailed it. Deals Gap is fun and during the week not too crowded.

It may be too late, but there is a family-owned lodge in Tapoco, NC that is at the Gap, 10 miles from the Cherohala Skyway and minutes from other great rides.
The place is Tapoco Lodge. They have a pool, billard table (inside), great food, and there is whitewater rafting right out the front door. They are the only business for miles, The place is quite and clean.

I have stayed there several times.
