i am planning a 5 day trip from harrisburg, pa to the fingerlakes/adirondacks - any ideas for nice routes either there or once there?I just came back from a nine state tour which included the Adirondacks. Regarding the Adirondacks, there are great roads to ride pretty much everywhere. If you are a camper check out Meacham State Park. It is located just north of route 458 on route 30. Make sure you get a waterfront spot. Just south of route 458 on 30 is a modest restaurant called "Samson's" or something like that. The owner/chefs name is Bill. He made one of the best burgers i have ever tasted.

Also you may want to stay or visit the town of Lake Placid. Nice hotels/motels in varying price ranges. Eat at a place called "Charlies" on main street, We experienced excellent food and service. Only has been open for six months. You can eat outside. My cousin and I stayed an extra day in the Adironacks, then had to hit the slab hard to get back to Chicago and St. Paul, MN. It was worth it.
