View Full Version : It's a Bleedin Flush Party

Thanks Bo for providing space, and Bob for the expertise, and Dan for looking on! We flushed the brake and clutch systems on my 04 and Bo's, um, what year is it? Anywho, it all went flat smooth. Bob removed my oem bleeders from the rear cali, and replaced them with speedbleeders (M10x1.0) for an easy bleeding. A light touch on the actuators is a must. It's SHOCKINGLY fast. (There's a memorable phrase!) And, I remember reading somewhere that the bleeders needed a flat point, so to speak, to fit into the clutch fillerupper. I had struggled getting a pointed speedbleeder into that durn thing before. So when we pulled the oem bleeders, imagine my joy to find them perfectly suited for the job. One screwed into the clutch fillerupper deal easily, and with the special speedbleeder bag attached higher that the bleeder, we only had to crack open the bleeder, and pump the handle repeatedly to flush the system. With the bag up above the bleeder, no air can be pulled back in, and with each pull, more pushed through than came back. In no time we had good clear fluid. Bo removed the bleeder, re-inserted the grub screw, and I was in bidness! So, see the attached pics of the oem bleeders and enjoy. Oh, and we followed up with some fine Q at our new Hard 8 in Coppell. Wonderful!

And a great time was had by all present...including the non-muggy temps.
So, a new business venture is now in the making...Fluid Changes by the "Flush Brothers", ok so we're still working on the name. And we were sure having fun with names.
But have flush bag, will travel to a tech session near you. Brake & Clutch flushes our specialty, and camraderie free with each service. So, we gonna do this at CCR? Hmmm, sounds like opportunity knocking!
Enjoyed it guys....let's do more so I can earn that Munster Garage Specialty Certification. I wants my crayon certifikate hangin' on my fridge!

Sounds like you guys had a lot fun... :)
The whole Bleed/flush thing is the one thing I haven't attempted on my own and still go to the dealer for.
One of these days I'll catch the Flush Brothers and see how it is done, ask a lot of questions, and be able to do it myself (although it wouldn't be as fun and there darn sure isn't any Q up here... )...

I plan on bleeding mine soon. I have an added level of confidence after watching the guys bleed brakes at the tech session a couple of weeks ago.
Did you guys get to eat bar-b-que? How was it??

The Q was good. I did have to take my pork chop back, though. It was way over cooked. They gave me another without a fuss. It was much better, and is good for two meals! :)

Indeed once you see it done the light bulb burns brighter. Just a couple of "Gotcha's" to watch out for but no deep mystery on the Integral system Flush anymore. We've done 5 bikes now since the Tech Session, all successfully.
As John says, the Q was indeed good...especially since I got to eat for free. Seemed to taste even better- thanks John for the free lunch!!!

I want to thank the DFW bunch for putting on a mini tech session and allowing me to look over your shoulders. Learned a lot "shockingly fast".
Too bad I missed the Hard 8. Had to go chauffeur the family around. July 28 sounds good to me,although I am the one who can't plan more than a day or two ahead. Had a blast Saturday, thanks for the great weather. Never thought I could be comfy outside in DFW in June.

Mine is a '02. Thanks guys, I'm slow to read the board, I had to do some yard work after all. We are on for doing the brake flush at the the CCR Tech Session (John Z is going to bring his spacers for holding the calipers open). My chop was over-cooked as well, Bob maybe you can put in a word with your daughter, since you have an inside track. I think the 28th is good for me.

Bob bought some SB8125L's, as specified on the SB site, but as I recall he could not screw them in. When I measure the ones on my 2004 BMW-branded brakes, it's 7mm. The SB7100 seems to fit that bill, but I'm not positive, and won't be until I pull one out for closer inspection.

Jason, you're right, the Speedbleeder folks sent me the wrong size for front brakes. Rears were definitely SB1010S. Haven't measured my fronts yet and just called the Speedbleeder folks back to see what they say. Will holler at ya when I get the right size. Jason, Speedbleeder is sending me 2 6's and 2 7's in their smaller length to verify fitment. Should be here in 3 or 4 days and we'll know for sure. Speedbleeder says there were a couple of different Front sizes for the 02 model year and they want to document it...hence the fitment try. Will stay in touch. You coming on 28 July? Bob

We only have to remove the two small side covers to get to the brake stuff. The big side covers don't really have to come off. You can pry them out and reach in with a torx bit to remove those screws. It was a fine day at the Munster Garage once again. Bo hosted us, and we thank him for his hospitality. Big E rolled in for his brake fluid flush, and Bob had to learn how to work on an '05 system on the fly! Good job, brother Bob! Dan was there with Kolaches, (yum!) and Tony arrived with the donuts. Herman was there reading the codes, Bruce dropped by to visit, and so did Bullet Bill. We got four bikes done today, and then it was off to the Hard 8 for some well deserved Q. Dan's son met us there and we had the usual feast. We also got to meet Bob's daughter Emily. Thanks y'all for another fun day. :)
PS. We learned that the 04 and 05 models use the SB7100S bleeders in the front, for the record.

Made it home, brakes worked, didn't have to jump off in front of my house. The "Flush Brothers" & all the Munster Garage crew are awesome. Thanks to all, I had a great time & will be back. 500 miles is not too much for me to ride to hang out with friends. I think I need to attend one more Flush Party before I try it. I would like to be able to help people in my area, they could always follow me to Munster Garage. It was fun, Thanks!

Hey Tony... is it ok if I add your name to the list of GS-911 owners in the "Bike Talk" thread?
(its amazing what you can find out from a wrong number) :)
Of course, Dean, please add me to the list. My device should be here by the end of the week.
As for the wrong number... I may have intended to call another Dean, but is was nice chatting with you just the same.

Next time you come in, don't spend your money on a hotel. I usually have an empty room or two, and if I don't, I'm sure one of our brethren Munsters can help you out.

Tony:
I wasn't going to tell off on 'ya.... I was just going to let the others wonder what that meant. :)
I will jump over there and add your name.
BTW: Just got back from a 150 mile ride. Same temp as last weekend... about 96 degrees on my bike themometer... I did much better this week. But probably only because I didn't have as much stopped/traffic time with all my gear on.

I made it home this morning, stopped in Natchitoches last night. I could have made it home by about 11 last night but chickened out. I'll ride in the rain & I'll ride in the dark but, dark, rain & tired, I stopped. There was a Holiday Express with an I-Hop next door & a Motel 6 with Burger King next door. Can you guess which on I Picked?

Bo, thanks for being a great host. Was great getting to meet everybody and work on some scoots. Got in last night. 250 miles, only 5 miles of rain, would never have figured on that. Going to have to think seriously about going to CCR just to watch the Flush Bros perform.

Now that's too funny....I'm starting to wonder 'bout you. But maybe it's your GPS that keeps finding the I-Hops.
Glad you made it home safe...see ya soon!

I can't spill the beans on Big E cause it's so unbelievable. And I laugh so hard everytime I think about it, but....maybe he'll tell ya'll the WHOLE STORY about the I-Hop near the Days Inn, and why he'll never go into an I-Hop again. How 'bout it BigE? It'll make us smile...you savage, silly boy!
