How do I put this gently........Hmmmm, let's see......Okay, I'll try it like this....I am having one dealership fix something another dealership overlooked or flat screwed up after the Regional Service Manager told them what to do. I got National BMW involved (After the GM at the first dealership asked "What do you want me to do about it, you are getting pretty good gas mileage?")and now National feels another dealership might get the job done right this time.
A dealership, who shall remain nameless was told to check the valves on my bike at 9K due to mpg issues I was having (27 mpg on the highway and 34 in town). The nameless dealership claimed they checked the valves and found one too tight and one too loose, but claim they corrected them. Nothing changed as far as the mpg issue and the Regional Director vanished, so after several phone calls asking what they were going to do next, not to mention the dealership going through three Service Managers during all this, the dealership in question made it very clear they were through trying to fix the problem (I am guessing they didn't like the fact that I made them fix all their previous mistakes on their nickle--LONG story). I had contacted National BMW a month ago and they told me to make an appointment with the original dealer and they would talk them through some things to try to determine the problem. Well, while at the Tech Session last weekend three guys checked my valves and found one out of sixteen was within specs and even it was right on the border. The fifteen others were all too tight and some were way too tight. I called National BMW back the next Monday and based on National's recommendation I am now going over to Lone Star to have it done right. Was that gentle enough?

hey Dean,
Yep, the guys at National have restored my faith in BMW. They are bending over backwards to get this resolved. In fact when I called Lone Star to make the appoitment the earliest I could get it in was July 12th. National called Lone Star and some how got me bumped up to a drop off tomorrow. From what I have heard and seen at Lone Star, I am pretty sure it will be done right or they won't send it out the door. National even said they are going to have them pull the heads to check for any damage, so I know this isn't just going to be another band-aid repair.

Dick,
Have you forgotten what happened the last time you were working the street corners? Has the judge made his decision yet? :histerica
Wouldn't you be more comfy panhandling in Chuy's than on a street corner? Heck I sure some of us would even drop in a coin or two.

Fair Oaks just called and they can't duplicate the problem with the truck!! :( I told 'em to keep it 'til they figger it out. I don't want the damn thang back; leavin' me to worry if it's gonna be a spectator instead of a participant.

Well, I'm hoping to avoid what LoneWolf has been gong through so I'm taking my K1200RS (2002 black with chrome wheels) to Lone Star this coming Saturday the 16th for some repairs. I think there is a transmission leak as well as some leakage in the swing-arm, fluid in boot. I want it done right the first time.
While they have it open it seems like time to check the clutch and slave cylinder, almost 80,000 miles.
If anybody is hanging around Lone Star on the 23rd and hopefully the following Saturday (30th) when I pick it up say hello. The plan is for my daughter to follow me down in the Saab convertible (2006 Aero red) for the drop off and pick up.

Hey, David - good show on getting it into Lone Star for the work. You'll be happy!!
Lissen, we're having an RTE on Satiday, the 30th and it's just up the road from Lone Star - 45 minutes or so, depending on traffic. Pick up your bike NLT 10:30-11:00 and head over to IH-35 on Braker, go over the bridge and hang a left and take 35 up to Salado and take exit 283 (I think) and look for the Stagecoach Inn - east side of 35. Restaurant is out back of the inn. OR, if on your way to Lone Star to pick up the bike, and it's gonna happen after lunch, drop in at the Stagecoach with your daughter and have lunch.
Good luck on the scoot wrenching.

Jerry, I am waiting on amy pictures. My buddie's wife took some action shots from the passenger seat of their GW and I probably won't get them until next month unless I can persuade her to mail them on a CD to me.
Good seeing you guys and kicking the tires at LS. Let us know when you pick up your scoot we could have a rerun with few more guys in town.
