I have the CQLight HID kit from the earlier group buy waiting to be installed at my next service. Today I blew my low beam bulb. I only have 1000 miles before my next service will be due. I read someone post that they were having noise on their FM modulated XM radio after they installed the HID kit.
I would hate to pay someone to install this HID kit and then realize that it produces noise and have to pay them to uninstall it. If I have to choose between XM and HID, I will choose XM because I rarely drive at night.

I would like to hear from anyone and everyone that has installed the HID kit and uses a FM modulator to play XM or IPOD thru their factory radio. If I don't hear something soon the HID kit will be for sale.

I have the CQ kit for my H7 low beam. I use Sirius radio with an in-line FM modulator in the antenna cable for the on-board radio. The intercom is a BMW ComSystem (J&M).

No problems.

HOWEVER: make sure that the power for any accessories, including your SAT radio, is fed directly from the battery or from ignition switched wires at the fuse modules.

Make sure that the supply leads provided at radio or at intercom are not utilized for your accessories - otherwise you will have static from switching power supplies feeding into your audio.

Always home run power and ground leads for your farkles - unless you want to become a real expert in removing tupperware, tank, radio, etc.

if you're using a WIRELESS fm modulator, you won't have any issues, if you're using a direct antenna cut-off FM modulator, and you experience any problems (which is highly unlikely) you can solve that with a $12 isolator from Radio Shack...

BEFORE you pay anyone to do ANYTHING with your HID kit, if it's one of those CQ deals, call or email the vendor and have them send you whatever "fix" they sent another member that allegedly corrected the "works fine for a couple days, then only fires up once every eight times I turn the ignition switch" (do a thread search for HID). Otherwise you're going to get so f'in mad you'll rip the thing out and run it over with your car like I did when it stops working on you mysteriously, especially if you're not doing the labor yourself.

(you owe me a drink for that piece of advice!)

I have the CQlight kit and have the Sirius hooked up- No Problem.

Keith, another tip, if a total incompetent spaz like me can install the kit, you can handle it too. It took me less than 30 minutes. Joe's directions are idiotproof.

Give it a try!

That is the type of aggravation that I was attempting to avoid. I have ridden 30,000 miles on my LT and less than 100 of those miles were at night. I love my XM and couldn't live without it. Since I don't do any labor myself, I didn't want to take a chance. Thanks to all for the encouragement but I have sold the HID kit. For now, I will stick to my overpriced PIAA bulbs and Motolights.
