I am looking at a 1995 K75/3 with 30K. Any thoughts on the K75?

I am concerned that the 750cc engine may not keep up with a K1200LT.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

The k75 is a fine ride, maybe even the best engine bmw ever made, but it has its limits, especially when you want to pass someone, you either have to preplan or downshift to get it moving. They love to rev and will probably startle you when you see rpms at 60 mph. That is how they were made. They will run forever with just reg. maintainence, but dont expect to run with the big dogs from a power standpoint. good luck. don

It is a good around town ride. I have both.
If you are running flat out it will not keep up with a 1200, but it will run at 65-80 mph all day and get 50+mpg.

The K75 is a great bike. Sweet smooth and the veritable flying brick.
If you're racing it won't keep up with a K1200. If you are touring it will. If the K1200 is running in a spirited way, you will have to run the K75 more aggressively, but it will do it unless you are loaded with luggage or two up.

I ride with a friend who has a K75. It does just fine. Great bike.

Thanks for all the helpful advice. I found a 95 with very low miles that I will probably buy this weekend.

I just returned a K1100LT today that I swear was trying to blow me up. It had a horrible gas tank leak that complete moron crapped up.

Now I will hear that I have a little bike and my husband has the "Big" bike....oh joy. :(

Kristin,
Like Uncle Rock I have both. I commute with the K75 and ride the LT on the longer hauls and week ends. I know of a couple of local K75s that have 250K+ miles are are still ticking!

Greetings Kristin.

You will absolutely love the K75. Those 750cc engines are still one of the most vibration free engines ever built. They are turbine smooth and love to rev. They are capable of doing the speed limit and a little more all day without any problems.

Go for it, you won't regret it.

Thank you all for your advice. Last friday I bought a beautiful red 95 K75 with less than 30k on the clock. :D

Thanks again everyone!

I dont know what a /3 is. I bought a 91 K75RT this FEB and it is as others have posted.

The only thing I dont like is the heat that comes from the radiator and gas tank.

The other day a combination of mid 90s temp, stop and go traffic, and low fuel had me standing on the pegs at every opportunity.

I put a tank bra on and it drops the temp of the tank by 15-20 degrees.
