I have finally settled on an installation that works well with my new Schuberth C2. Autocom sells a short boom mike (part #14) that velcros to the right side of the chin bar and has a 10" lead hanging down that I use a samll velcro flap to hold to the outside of the chin bar. The 10" lead has a samllr ed one-way plug that normally connects to the cable that your mike and earphones connect to. I clipped the mating plig out of the helmet connector. I use molded earphone ear plugs and don't need the helmet speakers. Autocom makes a special cable for use with earphones. I took the lead that I had clipped from the helmet connector, removed the helmet connector from the little electroics box for the earphones plug and soldered the short lead with the red plug into this little box. The results have been very satisfactory. I can see the two red plugs to connect them after putting on the helmet. I also put a snap ont he little box on the cable to snap it to my jacket -- that was 50% of the "works satisfactorily" solution.
If you try this, one lead of the short wire coming out of the little box has to be connected to three wires inside the box just like the helmet connector. If you leave little pigtails when you snip the red plug and short lead from the helmet connector, you'll see which ones need to be connected.
Not sure why Autocom isn't making something like this. They didn't seem inetersted when I talekd to them. Originally they had said the #14 short boom mike wasn't recommended with a Schuberth (or any other flip up helmet I suspect) when in fact it's just about ideal.
