Anyone up for an RTE this month? Got plenty of places to go to. I wuz thinkin' the other day, whilst I wuz in the wrong forum (duh!), about the Stagecoach Inn in Salado, Tejas. Lookee here (http://www.staystagecoach.com/golf/proto/stagecoach/menu/menu.htm) at their website. We've been there a hunnert years ago, and the gals really liked it cuz there's nice leetle shopping just a purse-toss away from the front door. Plenty of parking, and the shoppes are all within walking/strolling distance from each other.

That's one idea that's about 2 hours from the Hill Country; 2.5 hours from DFW area; and 3 hours from the Houston area.

Somebody got other suggestions? And the date - 23rd? Or the 30th?

Ring in - expecially if you have a good place in mind around the S.A/DFW/Hou triangle.

Edit: The 30th it is and the Stagecoach Inn in Salado it is - 'tween 1130-1200.

Edit: delete sticky notice.

I vote for the 30th since I'll be in CO on the 23rd. And either place will be fine, the Stagecoach is where Cathy and I did our first LT RTE on the 1st '05 when it was just a pup!

Don't base it on my schedule, but the 30th works for me...ANYWHERE!!!

Some good roads between here and Salado to make the trip even better.

New Mexico? Heck, it ain't that far, Bob!!! ;) ;) :D :D

Doggone it - I thought you might be making this one. I think the Stagecoach Inn wuz the last place (maybe the only time) where I met you for the first RTE we had there. You're right too - great place for an RTE.

Hope to see you at our next one - in July prolly. Take care.

Hey guys! Y'all have fun! I'm going to be travelling the next couple of weeks..

Good place, Salado... and the "shopping" is ok.. don't forget to visit the Scottish area... http://www.ctam-salado.org/

And, if your ladies attend, please explain to them what "going Regimental" means so they can prepare...

Gina, in Mena go South on 71 to the big town of Hatfield (about 15 miles from Mena) and look on the right side of the road for Vickies Diner. It is a 50's type place with the checkerboard floor. They have the BEST pie you will find this side of the mighty Mississippi!!! The cholate peanut butter pie will make you want to slap your Mama and the coconut cream will put you over the top.

OK, here is the latest roster, as of 6.24.07, I THINK!!

Okay, here is a real shocker. I am adding my wife...yes my wife, to the list. If Lone Star would ever get STARTED on my scoot, I am hoping they have it finished by Saturday. We will ride up there together, pick up my scoot and head to Salado from the dealership, so she will be joining me. I mentioned the RTE to her yesterday and she said (out of the blue) I think I would like to come to this one and I think she actually meant ride with me, but I don't think I will have the scoot back in time for that.

Roger that!!! I'm gonna keep the event on, butt encourage everyone to make a decision based on recent past weather, and the forecasts, for the area. I have a feeling that my plan to ride thru Marble Falls and take 963 outta Burnet may not be a good plan. That 963 has a lotta low water crossings that are 'enabled' right now, or will be soon. I'll be lookin' for a safer route.

If anyone 'knows' they're gonna take a *rain check*, please lemme know sometime Friday by mid-afternoon. I promised to give the restaurant a head count so they can work out the kitchen help and wait staff numbers.

I have been waiting to see what the weather was going to be like, my "Weather Girl" just sent me this:

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/dem/sitrepindex.htm

Bell County
In Bell County, the City of Salado, evacuations were conducted as the river overflowed it’s banks causing severe flooding. A shelter has been established in the City of Salado. There are several roads in the city that are flooding. There have been no requests for State Assistance at this time.

I don't think that I will be headed south this weekend. Good luck y'all. Jetski's might be needed, or maybe those inflatable vests, I don't think that the LT seat can be used as a floatation device.

Wonderin' if there's a ferry from Blanco to Salado.....or a very long bridge.

So I get home from work tonight, dry as a freaking bone...just a little sprinkle on me this am. But I can see that it rained at my place during the day. Quite a bit actually from the looks of the water running across the road at my driveway. But then it does that everytime it rains.

Then I look out the back bedroom window at my natural pool and waterfall...."what the heck?" I says, "Looks like a boat!" In my back yard.

Yep, thats wat it is, a junker boat, 15' or so Glastron, stuck in my "seasonal creek". Musta washed down from my junk collector neigbor to the north. And where I usta have a fence....no more. Boat musta floated right through it, along with logs and other debris.

So maybe I'll take the boat to lunch Satiday.....no, I guess not.
IF Salado and the Stagecoach is still there, we'll probably cage it.

Dick
Jun 28th, 2007, 8:38 pm
Well, since I don't think we can fit 31 folks in your newly acquired boat, and seeing Bo's post on the evacuations going on up there, and chatting with Grif (the rainmaker rider hisself!) and Coleman, I'm hollering *postponement* on the RTE. Maybe after we git thru the 4th Holiday and that week, thangs'll settle down and we can reschedule. I sent the Stagecoach an e-mail to that effect, so that they won't bring in extra help 'this' Satiday.

Sorry to do this, folks. Dang weather window just is all fogged up!! And apologies to you guyz who like *submarine sandwiches* - I think most of us will take a pass!!!

I'll do another RTE thread next week and poll up a date comfortable with most. Thanks for all the sharing, notes, banter and contributions on this one for the 30th. Wuz gonna be a great turnout, I could tell. Hopefully, one in July will match it, so stay tuned.

BTW - wx service has designated Boerne and Comfort as the bullseyes for a major liquid dumpage tamale morning 'tween 0600-1000. Sumpthin' on the order of ~5" is possible. For the local yokels around here, I'm not chancin' Leon Creek down in Leon Springs --- I'm doin' the *$$ in Boerne in the mornin'.

Yep, the forecasters are having a heck of a time pinpointing these weather conditions, huh? I figgered even if the skies are clear Satiday, there will still be a bunch of road closures and low water crossings to contend with, and it ain't worth putting folks in potentially harmsway, so we'll postpone it and look for a turn to better weather.

As for the Sunset, I'm just gonna watch NOAA weather pages and decide early Satiday morning. If it's still coming down in force, or did so during Friday and Friday night, I'll prolly cage it over. I may check TxDot too.

Dang, must have just missed ya, Russ. Dave and Kathy were there, and shoved off for work around 0700 or so. I had stopped at the Boerne *$$, butt no one wuz there, and the music wuz deafening, and the counterhelp were entertaining themselves, so I left and went to Leon Springs. Sprinkle showers coming and going, butt coulda rode ole Toad instead of ole Blue - darn it. Anyway, Dave and I are planning on doing the breakfast thang in the morning.
