Sounds like we have something "brewing" here. George has willingly or unwittingly set himself for a visit.
George, the ball should really be in your court on this one - I am sure that we would love to come to visit and hang out and even share the prep work.
So, let us know what you think

Guys, this Saturday is out. I have an open house to go to for my wife's uncle's 75th birthday.
However, this Sunday is the second Sunday of the month and the Niagara BMW Riders congregate at the Maple Leaf Pancake House in Smithville. I was invited a few months ago but haven't been able to make it yet. If you're up to getting up early on a Sunday, this might be an idea. Here's the link for more info:
Niagara BMW Riders (http://www.nbmwr.com/Pages/Frame.html)
We could meet there for breakfast and discuss any future riding plans.

I see they meet at 9 am and the weather forecast is promising so it looks like a go from my end.
Anybody else in?
The route for me is 403 east to the Linc to Hwy 20 to Smithville. To rendezvous with anyone coming from the GTA, I could take the long way round across the Burlington bridge to facilitate meeting in either Burlington or Stoney Creek.
Looking forward to meeting you all! We can take George up on his offer another time!

I'm in!
I will leave west end Toronto and head down the QEW, unless someone can suggest a more scenic route. To hell with "direct". The more time on Tipsy, the better I like it. Besides, I've got new tires that I have to scuff up.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Martin (Metzen) and I are planning to meet at McD's on King George Rd in Brantford at 8 and then heading on over.
It sounds like we will have 4 or 5 in our little group. Any one else?

I think this is going to be a very interesting weekend. Wouldn't it be fun to meet up somewhere and ride to Smithville en mass?
The sight of four or five (or more) LT's pulling up, with the roar of the engines and all of that black leather and chrome...sorry, I kind of got Harley there. :D
If you want to meet up before going to Smithville, we can meet at my trailer or somewhere more central. According to my GPS, Smithville is about a 20 minute drive from me.
I'll be heading down to Dunnville after work today for the rest of the weekend, so I won't have internet access. But my cell is 416-990-2285 if you decide on a plan of attack.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday! :bmw:

Hey paul, We could meet somewhere and ride there together. I'll be coming down 410 then 407 or 403. I hate the QEW by the Ford Plant!!! Where do you want to meet?
P.S. I NEED new tires.....

I am thinking that we could meet at the intersection of Hwy 403 and Eastgate Parkway.
I am not that familiar with Hwy 403 but according to Mapquest.com (starting point "Caledon, ON" and ending point "Smithville, ON", the 403 intersects with Eastgate Parkway.
I am assuming that once you get off the 403 at that intersection, it should be possible to re-enter the 403 immediately and proceed presumably to the QEW or through the back roads, although, if memory serves, there is not really much to see until you get well past the Burlington Skyway.
Go on www.mapquest.com and start with Caledon and end with Smithville. Make sure that you tick off "Avoid toll roads" and "Avoid Highways". You will see what I mean. If you prefer, I can e-mail you a PDF of the route when I get home in a couple of hours.
I share your dislike of the QEW by the Ford plant, but on a Sunday morning, with no precipitation, it should be quite tolerable.
Any other suggestions for rendezvous point or route, fess up, brother.
I got a great deal on my new tires but more on that later.

How 'bout we meet at 403 and Dundas, west side. Then we can take Dundas west to #6 south to the 403 to Brantford and meet the guys at McD in Brantford @ 8? I Think we would have to meet no later than 7:00.

Geoff - is King George Rd hyway 24? Is McD south of 403?

Guys, coming to Brantford takes you a bit out of the way as in backtracking about 15 - 20 miles. Glad to have you join us but there may be a better rendezvous point.
Choices would be on the mountain at the first exit off the Lincoln Alexander Parkway - Golf Links, I think. There is a McD's across from the big box stores. This would be a slight detour for you - 403 Niagara to the Linc is about 6 - 7 minutes. From there, we can take a 2 lane road east across to Smithville.
Or Martin and I could take the extra miles and meet you at the Timmy's on Brant street in Burlington - it is just north of the QEW on the left.
Or we could all meet in Smithville and do a little ride down Niagara way after brekkie.
Whatever we pick, I will call George and let him know. I think going to his place in Dunnville first, while a generous offer, is illogical from a routing perspective.
Thoughts?

Garry, forgot to answer your question - yes, King George is Hwy 24 and the McD's is just South of the highway. From TO, when you exit the 403, you make 2 lefts and it is over the 403 on the right.

Garry, if you do decide to come thru to Brantford, you can stay on Highway 5 past Hwy 6 all the way to 24 and then come S about 5 - 6 minutes to the McD's. At that time of day on a Sunday, I would not expect any traffic issues either on 6 and the 403 or 5/24. Not many twisties (ie NONE) but a nice, newly paved in spots road. There is a little construction at the intersection of 5 and 24 but nothing to fuss about.
Either way you come, I am looking forward to meeting you guys.

See you there about 8. The ride to Smithville is about an hour depending on the route. Any preferences, guys? I can make the trip anywhere from 60 to 120 minutes.
Sounds like a coffee topic for Sunday am.
See ya!
