Packing

Has anyone packed for camping and going two-up? I need some help on bike handling with the top of the hard case also loaded and what is the max weight you have placed up there? Heading to Asheville on Tuesday.

If you have the OEM rack up there, I believe the max load is 11 pounds, if my memory serves correctly. You really don't want to put too too much weight up that high anyway. In the twisties you can really feel it.

When I've been two up camping, I've carred a water proof bag strapped to the rack with two therma rest mattresses, two small sleeping bags, and my tent poles (the tent goes in the trunk, but the poles don't fit). I've carried a bit more than 11 lbs up there, and tho it was a bit noticable, it wasn't bad. Traveled the mountain road to TWO in Suches Georgia with no problem (see attached pic with my daughter). Just make sure things are strapped down good. "Lost" my load off the rack one time when the bungee cord came unhooked. I use ROK straps now.
