If you could take a two week motorcycle vacation in a foreign country where would you go? My first choice would be South Africa to Namibia. Second choice - New Zealand. Third choice - The Alps.

Austrailia - Russia (on the paved side!) - then China, before it's all freeways.

I was looking at one of the several tours available through Europe. They'd have to include Austria as my GF is from there ;)

I was leaning towards the AUT/DEU/ITA/CHE trips until I got the price (w/o airfare) I took that money and bought my LT instead :bmw:

still would like to go though, maybe doing it on our own would be cheaper and more flexible to see family along the way.


The movies/books, Long Way Round/Down made really long trips look interesting.. Going down probably more so than across Russia ;)

Most probably China, then Southern Africa, Australia & New Zealand, Canada. Did Europe Asia & South East Asia back in 1971/72 when I was young & no cares :histerica
Hope to get to ride to Eastern Canada this summer.

Having lived in South Africa, that would be it hands down. I am planning a World Cup Soccer and bike trip combination to South Africa next year.

Western and Southern Bohemia. Castle to castle in the Czech Republic. Best Pils in the world...

For me,

New Zealand - South island
Alps - Germany/Austria/Italy (again - been twice)
USA - maybe the trip I did in 07 by Car - Niagara/PA/VA - enjoyed it.
USA - Further west perhaps - or where my family are from Iowa?

Alps is going to be my trip for 2011, might be a few of us going various makes of bike.

I'd take a few weeks and ride the Alps. Swiss, Italian, Austrian and German. Then I'd want to do it again, every summer for a few years.

I was just looking at the Globe Riders Trips. They have a 50+ day trip from China to Germany across Asia and a trip they are working on that will go from Alaska to the tip of South America. Have any of you guys ever taken a trip with them? What do you think? I have a couple of their videos and the trips are long, but they look awesome.
