I finally took the plunge.. I wanted better lighting and taking the tupperware off to install my garmin 2720 was reason to do it now.

I found a few ebay sellers that were selling car kits delivered for around $110.00, I e-mailed several, two agreed to ship a 4300 color kit with one H7 and one H3 bulb.

I decided to get it from http://stores.ebay.com/justplaza-com-usa the seller's name is: super_digi he has good feedback over 2200 positive.

It shipped from shanghai, china in about a week to los angeles via DHL. The low beam H7 bulb went right in, the H3 high beam more of a challenge, It looks like this picture http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10016

I removed the "Z" strap that held in the steel backed original H3 bulb and drilled the black holder with a step drill to allow the HID H3 bulb's large black wire shroud some clearance (it comes through the black surface you drill / file out about 1/4 inch) I put the bulb against the steel part, snapped the black holder in place and pulled it outward against the two stops. Then I tensioned the bulb in position and glued it in place with my trusty hot glue gun. I read another post where someone used silicone. that may be better than hot glue for high temp applications we will see. I like hot glue because it dries fast.

The power supply units are chrome faced and measure 1.2 x 3.2 x 3.5 inches. the connections add about an inch to the long end, I tie wrapped them by their brackets to the "superstructure" behind the headlight below / behind the windscreen motor to the right facing the nose of the bikes framework. They are marked 3.2 amps. by my calculation of ohms law that is half of the original load so I did not worry connecting them to the original wiring for the bulbs.

they both are bright enough to make me see spots, a helpful hint, don't look at the headlight directly....
