Over the past 3 years I have ridden about 18K miles on my Suzuki Volusia 800. Just bought a 2005 gold K1200LT that is currently in storage until April 1st.

The LT is considerably heavier than the Vol. What type of things could I expect to practice/learn at Spring Training II?

We will have something planned for Thursday, some arrive on Wednesday but most arrive for the weekend on Friday..

I hate it, but I will not be making it to the Spring Training Camp in 2006. Same weekend I am putting on the Cape Fear 1000 Rally in Wilmington, NC. May have to make Ironhorse a bonus location for some of the 24-hour rally riders and him them swing by on the way to Wilmington.

I will be. But if I repeat last year's pattern, I'll be leaving northeast Ohio Wednesday morning, not Thursday. In fact, I may leave a whole lot sooner than Wednesday.

AND...if the weather appears to be even the slightest bit better than last year, I'll probably be riding my Ninja. Not that that should concern anyone too awful much. http://www.bigbikeworld.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

An earlier poster in this thread asked what he might "learn" at this Spring "Training" Camp, not realizing that the name was a play on words from the baseball event of the same name (and in the same time frame).

Well ..... here's something you can learn (if you've never done it). If someone can bring a large enough supply of different sized buckets, my wife Sharon might be talked into supervising the removal of the LT's cams in order to replace a bucket, thereby bringing a valve lash back into spec.

Just ask her !! :D :D ;)

Don,

I know you aren't keeping a roster yet, but put me down as a pretty sure "Maybe" - need to work out a few things here first.

Looks like some good stuff to 'learn' ;) -- don't get much twisty riding out here, so that part has me a bit anxious, but it'll be fun -- and lots of frineds to meet.

If I do make it, I'll be staying at the Tuskeegee - been trading PMs with Joe (surely he won't lead me astray)...

... and don't call me "surely".

Actshoooooly, Joe might be leading you astray. It's awfully nice to partiskipate in events at the Iron Horse campground, sit around, eat there (breakfast and dinner) with everyone else, throw the bull, enjoy an adult beverage or three (that you brung with ya) at the end of the day, and end the evening with a short walk to your cabin at Iron Horse. Suppose it's raining ... or snowing! Are you really going to enjoy dressing up in your riding gear, then riding at night on unfamiliar, unlit roads in lousy weather to Joe's motel in place of a short walk to your cabin?

How 'bout it, Joe? What's the price advantage of the Tuskegee Motel over a beautiful, new, RIGHT THERE! cabin @ Iron Horse ???

I'd say that the scenery in CO is better than the area surrounding STC II. But as for the actual riding . . . nothing beats that area. Period! I don't mean to diss CO, it's my second favorite area. But, the tri-state area (NC, TN, GA) is my home. If'n "home" is where your heart is and all. :)

Thanks guys,

Colorado is definetely beautiful, but the weather here is killing me. It's great in town for this time of year, but I am stuck on the plains, due to all the snow in the surrounding mountains. Hey Brett,
Thanks for the "warning", but I have to say my two favorite riding partners are my dad and uncle--they are so full of sh*t I have to pack my waders! Listening to their war stories and tales that the wives don't get to hear is half the fun. Scraping the chrome off their decked out Wings is the other half--usually leading to another story for the next campfire.

My last "crotch rocket" was a CBR600RR and I've burned up a set of knee pucks--or two. I am looking for a new go fast ride just waiting for my wallet to catch up with my dreams....

Still waiting on the bosses decision about the time off, but I'm hopeful.

Take care,
