Hello k-bike folks. How fortunate I have found this forum! I bought an '85 k100rs in less-than-perfect condition. It is mechanically strong, however, and most of the neglect appears to be cosmetic. I am waiting to recieve my Clymer guide in the mail so that i can do my final drive and spline lube properly. What i need is a new gas cap assembly. It appears the previous owner grew a bit impatient with the old lock! Also, the rear running light does not work. After checking the obvious (bulb, wiring) i took it to the local mechanic, and he told me that these old k-bikes should not have a light switch, which mine does, which may be why the rear runner is not working. Anyone looking to give a novice some sound advice, you've come to the right place!

You really can't do much until you get your manual. The running lights are relay controlled. Yours probably failed, hence the switch control.

Check "Beemer Boneyard" for parts.

Check this out hit me (http://www.ibmwr.org/)
Go to the market place, hit it, then to the classified's,
Some people run a switch because they don't want to burn lights in daytime, if you have a weakened battery, the low juice can cause the starter relay to stick open. Thus cut out any extra draw.
