This is my second posting to this site. Thanks for all of the feedback from my first posting. I slept a little better last night.

I now have another couple of questions. First question is in regards to maintenance. I am definitely a do-it-yourselfer. I like doing the work on my bike myself when I can, because I know it will be done right. I have been the victim of some shady dealership work in the past, probably most of us have, albeit motorcycle or automotive. Anyway, enough rambling. Can anyone recommend a decent COMPLETE maintenance manual for the LT. I've seen several on the market, actual manuals, as well as CD-ROMS. Any help would be appreciated.

Now for my second question. I'm currently in the market for headsets for my comm system. Like I said in my last thread, I just purchased a 02 loaded, w/2600 miles on it. The gentleman I purchased the bike from gave me everything, I guess, for the comm system except for the headsets themselves. Again, I'm just guessing here. I do have a bag full of various cords with ends on them that would plug into the comm recepticles. Does anyone have any suggestions on a particular brand? Also, a supplier? I have spoke with my BMW dealer, and let me tell you they are very proud of their headsets. Is $1000.00 bucks the norm? One more thing, can the install be done without the dealer getting involved? I currently have two half helmets, but plan on purchasing two 3/4 helmets for the headsets. Has anyone checked out the scorpion helmet brand? Any helmet recommendations? Again, any help would definitely be appreciated. Thanks alot, this is a great site.

What com system? If it's an add-on like Autocomm, you can find their sets at their site. Others I don;t know about. Not sure of any cross-brand compatibility either. Seems like everyone makes them so only their own parts work on them.

Tell us waht com and I'm sure the fine folks here will jupm in and help out.

I just bought two of the "BMW" headsets for about $200 each plus tax from Chicago BMW. One full face and one open face. The headsets are made by J&M. You will also need to buy the lower connecting cords to connect to whatever brand communication system you have.

The Scorpion full face helmets have had good reviews. I saw them at the Motorcycle show and was very impressed with them. However, I didn't like the way they fit on my head and the sales guy was not sure if there was enough room for headsets. I didn't investigate further since I am not currently looking for a helmet. I ride with a full face Arai Signet GT and the BMW headsets fit fine.

My wife has a scorpion lg Full face helmet and an autcom headset works inside it nicely. I like the Scorpions, but not a lot of dlrs stock the XXXL, which fits me about like anyone else's XXL or XL.

Fullmer makes a nice flip face for a reasonable price.

And for maintenance, you can spend the $125 at dlr for a CD, or go the ebay route and buy a pirate copy for $5. I think there is a clymer for the LT also.
