Tech Session Information for CCR2007

This year’s tech sessions are going to be held on Wednesday the 29th from 8:00am to 5:00pm. I would like to line up 2 volunteer bikes to be worked on for these sessions. A 24k type of service (except the computer hookup) will be done to each bike. We will not be doing any brake fluid or antifreeze work here. Actually I’m a little leery about changing gas filters but if the tanks are close to empty AND the bike has the fuel line quick disconnects then it can be done with a minimum of fumes passing into the hotel room. I realize that it is hard to know if your bike will be near the 24k or 48K interval by August but as long as they are close that should not matter.

If someone would like to demo an accessory install of some kind or maybe a particular type of service on their bike other than the normal stuff then please send me an email about what you would like to demo install. Even GT owners could do a demo tear down! My email address is john.rehder@comcast.net

Handy Lifts: It’s nice to have Handy Lifts available for the services but it can be done without them. If anyone that lives close to the resort and could bring one over along with a portable air compressor that would be great. Or someone could purchase one from Raffy’s “Just ride It” web site and have it shipped to the resort. Then they could haul it home afterwards in a pickup truck. Raffy’s web site address www.motogear4you.com

Now if we can’t get two people to buy the lifts or have a local bring one over then we will have to do without.

Wrenching volunteers: Like previous years there will be two people per bike doing the actual services and this could be the owner of the bike. Another person or persons will be narrating on the PA system (if available). If two bikes are worked on then we need four mechanics. The wrenching volunteers will need to bring the necessary tools with them. I will have the oil drain pan and two litter bottles for the old fluids. I will try to have the PM materials donated by a BMW dealer. Also it’s always nice to have extra volunteers in the background in case someone does not show up to the reunion.

If you would like to volunteer to be a mechanic on a team or you would like to have your bike serviced (or you could bring a lift to the hotel) then please send me a PM and I will start a list. Also, if you have any questions please call me on my mobile 678-372-2334 and I will answer them or get an answer if I don’t know.

Thanks
John Rehder

I find it interesting that no one has signed up for this. Where else can you get your bike serviced for FREE, except for the service items, being taught by someone that knows what he is doing.

maintenance. Maybe there have been enough tech sessions around the country that everyone that owns an LT has been taught already! Our job is done...................... LOL

Just a head's up, y'all. The tech session start time is moved to 10 ayem. Seems that lazy bones feller who's running it wants to sleep in. *snicker*

You can have mine as a second bike. That way you have one old(er) and one new(er) series.

EDIT: As long as you don't expect *ME* to use any kind of wrenching tool. My tools are usually the keyboard and a mouse. But when it comes to mechanical tools...

Why did I just have this picture of Andy beating an LT with a keyboard and whipping it with a mouse?

Andy,
I'll keep yours in mind. I need to come up with 2 wrenching vollunters for Al's bike first before I commit to a second bike. I will let you know as time gets closer to the reunion.

I'll offer my '00 as a third back up. I'll just be turning 24K. I had the coolant & brake fluid flushed early winter since I wasn't sure since the original owner's service records were not available.

I don't know if there are quick-disconnects on the fuel line or not.

Paul,
got you down as back up. Have you ever performed your own services? still looking for another experienced wrencher for Al's bike.

Maybe because you know me all too well? LOL

John,

You can count me in for wrenching, unless Steve has me too busy with Activites Co-Chair. I'll even bring some tools but I have no lift.

John,
Got you down on the list to assist with Al's bike. Thanks, looks like we do it this year without a lift. No big deal.

Hey John Z...
To save some time, I will get up early and get the ole girl undressed before the tech session starts at 10:00. I don't think people will be interested in seeing the tuperware come off. ;)

Al, I would rethink that. There are people that HAVE NOT seen the bike come undress or dressed. I would let John Rehder make the call about undressing it. JM2CW

I'm all for undressing! :yeah:

Want to see all the Tupperware screws come out & go back in.
As I said b4, I'm a virgin and not afraid to admit it. :D

There are a few hidden things, that make undressing and dressing the big girl tricky.

Remembering the tabs on the upper side panels, not being afraid to pull hard when you're sure everything is ready and then lining up the screws on top of the stingray etc. And my pet peeve; every time I get it back from the stealer the gas cap holder is stuck under the stingray.

Al,
we should wait to strip the bike so others can watch. dang perverts!

John,

You better give Andy my slot for the tech session. I've already rolled up 25K and will probably be over 30K by CCR. I better do the service before then. :)

In case this hasn't been seen: John got a promotion and won't be able to attend CCR. Floyd had a leetle heart glitch and my not make it either, and if he does, will just want to kick back.

We're needing a Chair and co. Bo, Texas42, is mulling one of the positions as we speak.

I know we have some good folks familiar with the LT. Can I have an, "Amen, brother grif"?

Grif,

I was going to be a "Second Wrench" to John already and I can step up to the plate for CCR. The wife already has an all day spa event booked that day ($$$). Have the tools and the know how - ready to serve.

If you want to be the Chairman (please), I am willing to assist. Just tell me what you need me to do. Cindy is going to be at the spa that day also. :bmw:

OK, John Z. is the Chair and Bo is the co-chair.

Can I get a super mod to grant them access to the CCR Chair Forum?
