I need to disconnect my battery in hopes that it will re-set my failed radio.

What will this do to my alarm system, when I reconnect the battery? Will it return to normal, or will I have to re-program the alarm?

Thanks in advance.

I have an '03 LT and ended up resetting the radio a number of times last year (weak battery). I did have to silence the alarm using the remote but never had to reprogram the alarm itself. YMMV

Like Alan said, if you disconnect the battery, have the fob handy, cause when ya hook it back up, the alarm is automatically armed!

Glad that everything worked out. You might want to start making plans to replace your battery if this happens again. DAMHIK.

Alan,

Just installed a brand new BMW gel battery. So I hope that aint' the problem.

However, now when I first power up the radio, I can hear something that sounds like an electrical relay buzzing for a half second.

What gives? Does the radio have a relay under there?

It didn't occur to me about the alarm when I disconnected my battery for radio reset. When I reconnected, it didn't go off, either. I haven't used the alarm since I got the bike, other than to set it off for folks to marvel over.

My alarm doesn't "go off" when you reconnect the battery. It just arms itself automatically.

If you don't know this (and disarm it with the key fob) when you turn on the ignition, you get a LOUD awakening!
