I plan on going to Louisville soon. Can some one on this site recommend any good rides in the area? Since I will be riding there and will not have much free time while there I am looking for good rides close to there. Thanks in advance.

Since I will be riding there and will not have much free time while there I am looking for good rides close to there. Thanks in advance.A ride through bluegrass country on the way to Woodford Reserve (near Versailles, KY) is a must. McCracken Pike, off of Rt. 60 (NW of Versailles) is pretty tame, but you simply will not find a more beautiful country drive. High-end thoroughbred farms on boths sides of the road, old stone fences, horse pastures groomed better than most yards. Very pretty. Maybe 1 hour from Louisville to Versailles.
While you're in Versailles, stop in Frankfort -- state capital. Take a tour of the capitol building; surprisingly spectactular. Daniel Boone's grave is on the hilltop cemetery.
The Red River Gorge through the Daniel Boone National Forest (eastern KY) would be a great ride on a bike, but it's not close to Louisville. Maybe 2-3 hours away?

I second that recommendation. The road out past Woodford Reserve and past Old Taylor Distillery is sweet. You'll get to see an old very cool distillery before it is long gone. Then you'll see Old Crow too just past it that isn't functional either. Just keep following the road, you'll think you're on someone's private drive, but you're not. Great curves too. Woodford has some cool old buildings too. Stop by Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, another cool Distillery to see. And then ride ride ride.
Oh, the ride back from Makers Mark in Loretto back into Bardstown is good too. Lots of great curves. Watch the ditches though.
Good place to eat, Bourbon's Bistro in Louisville on Frankfort Ave. Worth a stop. Enjoy some bourbon when you're not riding for the rest of the day. Great sushi bar just down from Bourbon's too.
Have fun. Very cool town. I'm sure you can tell I like Bourbon a lot.
Cheers,

Just across the river in Indiana on highway 62.The good riding starts at Corydon some great views of the Ohio river. You can take 62 to 66 and have some more
of the same views but will be closer to river level. Also some very small 1 tavern
towns. Whole ride could be done in 3 to 4hrs with the return to Lville.

Haven't made it south of the river much, but northwest from Louisville to Greenville and Salem, then SR135 north to Nashville's one of Indiana's best. If you're pressed for time, from there you can take 46 east to Columbus (IN) and slab it back to Louisville in no time.

A little out of your way from Louisville, but 421 from Madison Indiana south into Ky is a great road.
