Is there much difference between a K1100LT frame + a 1999; K1200LT frame.
Reason I ask is found a hack w/ subframe that was mounted to a K1100 and was thinking about getting it for my pup.
How much different can the frames be??

It is a Velorex 700 sidecar.

hate to pee on your parade, rock, but the two bikes couldn't be more different.

the k11lt - my lil bro-in-law had one and we rode together for quite some time - doesn't have a real frame to speak of - the engine is a stressed member and everything bolts to it. all the early K bikes were this way - it was a wonderful engineering solution that wasn't the worlds most human-friendly motorcycle.

the k12LT has the cast aluminum backbone frame you know - it was added to solve problems with vibration and heat management - provide a place for the telelever to sit, and a world of other problems and essentially added a frame to what had been conceived as a frameless bike.

net/net - one has a frame, one really doesn't. it is highly unlikely that a mounting solution for the K11 series is going to work for the k12 without a fair amount of fabrication.

Thanks, I also saw a sub frame for a k1200lt floating around on one list or other, may have to grab that up.
Or just rethink, no hurry.

Maybe you could contact the manufacturer and see what they have to adapt it to your LT.

Hey, Rock. I have 2000 K1200LT frame and sub-frames available. Are you looking for the big Aluminum piece, the rear sub-frame, other? Drop me a PM and I'll fill you in.

Tony - if you don't have what Rock needs, maybe Edgar Tanner < eatanner > does. He's got some frame parts down in my storage unit. I won't mention this to him 'til after you and Rock git straight.
