Inside the left side case, where the strap holds the tool-kit to the back of same side case, that plastic piece came loose. Currently I have the kit straped to the holder but set in the other side case. What's the best(right) way to refasten the plastic piece back where it belongs.
Thanks,

It's just heavy duty double-sided tape. Some 1'' 3M tape will do it!

This solution is not exactly the answer to your question but an alternative,
Not my idea either, I copied it from a "highly esteemed" forum member, ;)
because immitation is the most sincere form of flattery

I like that. How do you cut such perfect shapes in the foam? When I try, I end up with a mess!

I love that. I've never seen the photo before. Same question, how do you cut the foam so nicely?

I used "GOOP" auto adhesive to attach mine. That was about 2300 miles ago with no problem.

use two layers of foam, one which you will cut, the other will be underneath when fitted to the bike.
Use a scalpel - a new one, might even want two blades, and take your time.
You need some high density foam too, the stuff with big air-bubbles just rips to shreds and give a crappy look.

Tip --- I picked up the foam sheets from Sears; they're used to line rollaway tool chest drawers. They come as a kit and you receive a coupla sheets per kit; a sharp retractable pen knife; and some thick poster-paper sheets. I laid out the tools on the paper sheets; traced around 'em and cut out the profiles. Then laid the sheets over the thicker foam and used the knife to cut out the profiles in the foam. Since the bottom of the LT's sidecase is sorta bellied, I found (also at Sears) real thin rubber padding which is used in the bottom of the toolchest drawers where you just put various tools and stuff - no need to profile 'em. I use that padding, cut to the shape of the sidecase bottom, below the thicker foam stuff; then the foam stuff holding the tools; then a top layer of the rubber padding to keep the tools from escaping. All in all, I don't take up any more vertical space than the thickest tool plus about 1/8".

Hans' looks a lot neater arranged than mine - I got carried away with fitment instead of choosing the right tools. Butt - I always carry a cell phone and Master Card!!!! ;) :D

Thanks everyone. If I wasn't trading for a '07RT I'd do what Hans did.
Thanks again,

I used epoxy to re-mount by tool holder when it came loose.

If the bikes still under warranty take it bike to the dealer. Let them fix it I did.

Mine came attached with double sided tape. After reattaching it several times, I finally used expoxy formulated for plastics.

Let them fix it I did.I got my dealer to give me the "part" when I dropped past in my car, after they ordered in a new one during service visit to replace the one that had "broken off". Said I'd fix it on myself, and send them the broken one... turns out it was just the tape pulled off, and guess what, no new tape in the new part! Total waste of time, had to go buy the 3M sticky myself... but I did give the new part back next visit.... Some of the little plastic bits just aren't well implemented (eg trunk mirror).

My Attachment departed as well and wanted the tools out of my storage case, the mechanic came up with putting the tool kit under the seat. I have attached photo's. The tray I purchased from Gina's in Iowa City, IA and they made it hold the tools.
