Anyone have a suggestion on a coffee maker? I need a new one and like good coffee. What would be a good one to get?

I've got a Braun that I've had for at least 10 years. Coffee makers just aren't supposed to last that long, but this thing just keeps going and makes a fine cup of coffee.

What kind of coffee maker ?
For camping or just plain coffee, I use paper filters in a plastic holder and pour hot water thru into a cup. For every morning Espresso or latte I use Espressione machine by Girmac. it's a good mid priced machine. Although my $69 Braun machine worked fine for a lot of years if you don't use a lot of steam.

I bought a refurbished Cuisinart DGB-500BK (http://www.cuisinart.com/catalog/product.php?product_id=13&item_id=32&cat_id=3) that I absolutely love. Just over $50 to my door, and it simply makes the best coffee I've ever tasted.
For real espresso, you just can't beat a little stovetop 3-cup unit from Bialetti (http://www.bialetti.com/).

We had 2 BUNN coffee makers... fast, great coffee. http://www.bunn.com/retail/bunn_difference.html
When it came time to replace the last one, the cost was prohibitive.... or so I thought. The coffee I have now is acceptable to my bride and I don't drink it much anymore from that machine.
A new BUNN is on OUR horizion...

And you guys call yourself coffee drinkers....lol. For true coffee drinkers, there is but one way to make coffee, hot water onto grounds, steeped then metal mesh filtered. Eva Solo is the best, hands down. Youll never have coffee from a machine again.....link: http://www.evasolo.com/products-cafesolo.html

But the bottom line for me is, my Grind & Brew Cuisinart pumps out 12 cups of pretty darn good coffee. And a few times a week, a whip out the Bialetti and it's ALL GOOD. http://www.xs4all.nl/~ernstmul/images/yahoo/44.gif

I'm with Joe on the Cuisinart, here's the one we use at the Penguin Farm (http://www.cuisinart.com/catalog/product.php?product_id=10&item_id=25&cat_id=3)
But a French Press - no matter who makes it. S'long as it's a metal screen and real glass (pyrex) carafe - done. Don't get any better.
For coffee that is. Espresso is a whole 'nuther game :thumb:

Cuisinart here too, median price, great coffee....just got the one with the cup serving thingy, ie, put your cup under the spout and push the lever. I like this one much better than the old fashioned one we had...it was great but I broke the container, heheh...by accident of course.
I'm a coffee coni-sewer all the way....

Probably the best coffee one can have is made by boiling coffee grounds in a large pot over a campfire. (COWBOY COFFEE)

Braun is recommended by consumer reports and I'm happy with it. The inexpensive drip, no options is what's recommended.
I've tried Mr. Coffee (o.k.) and a few expensive ones a decade or more ago - I was not impressed.

Don,
If you want really good coffee, start by roasting your own. I have been doing it for about 8 years.
Lots of good info here.

They carry coffee makers also.

Another vote for cuisinart. I like the insulated stainless steel one. Great for brewing iced tea too.

More fun though is this espresso maker. Does it all amazingly and I my friends make fun of how much I enjoy making them drinks, especially before they try and leave late at night to keep em wired.

We have been using this one (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-10/qid=1177082443/ref=sr_1_10/601-8059964-0688906?ie=UTF8&asin=B000093681)for just over a year. I like it for the fact that I do not have to pour it, just stick my cup underneath and your are good to go.

I love the Keurig. They have a nice variety of coffees, plus they have a mesh filter if you want to use your own beans.

1 vote for French press
I use the French Press when it is just for me.
When making 10 to 12 cups it is this.

Chauffeured Cheryl to Williams-Sonoma this morning; her fav kitchen farkle place. While she fondled the farkles, I got a free coffee tasting at the Latte Bar. Sumpthin' from Italy, that needed a shovel full of sugar in order to down it!!! While trying to find a place to pour it out with no one looking, I spied a futuristic machine that wuz labeled "Ultissimo" or sumpthin' - $3,600.00. That's three thousand six hundred bones!!! The instruction book wuz 'bout as beeg as the LT shop manual!! And it wuz for residential/home use. Are they kiddin'?!?!?!? I found a place to pour out, alright!! :D They'll have to sell that one 'used'!!
