Ok, so I was a bad person. I left the key in the bike, in the on position, for several days and the battery went dead. I charge it and the bike starts, weakly. We ride asround for an hour or so and park it for several more days. The battery is dead again. My fault, I know. So I push start it. It took a couple of tries but it fires up, I ride it around for a bit and when I get home I see that I have no low beam (HID) but the parking light is on. and of course a mostly dead battery I break down, buy another battery, and a nice BMW charger. I install the new battery everything is fine, but no low beam. So I'm thinking, I blew a fuse, but I can find no indication of a fuse for head lights.
So I ask , is there a fuse for the low beam? If not what part of the HID system did I fornicate up?

No fuses for the headlight for bikes prior to 2005 model. Check the bulb. May need to replace it.

A bulb I can live with. I was concerned that I might have messed up the ballast or that other HID thingy :) and I was not looking forward to stripping the bike down to get to the darn things.
thanks,
richard

Ok. Didn't know you had HID. Some HID kits come with a relayed wiring harness that does include an inline fuse to the battery. May want to check that. You also may want to check the relay.
edit: I should have read your entire post.

Richard, the CQ kit does have a fuse (7.5 Amp), alas it is probably out of sight and tucked under the nose cone, so you may want to start there. HID bulb are pretty resilient, but I had a ballast short out on me and replaced by CQ.
Check your connections as the wires on my new kit came off their connectors.

Thanks for the offer. I'll keep my fingers crossed that I will not need one

So, the next time I install something that has a fuse I will make a note of where the fuse is. After an hour of fumbling around with my hand crammed up the nose cone's innner space, I was coming up empty handed and I am already dreading the thought of removing the plastic when I decide to look down the hole where the windshield arms are located. There I see the nice thick cable that connects to the ballast (mounted on top of the headlight assembly. By remvovind the windshield I am able to get my fingers in the gap and pull the cable up a bit, and what do i see? The fuse connector, and the fuse is blown.
So remember kids, put it where you can find it and remember where you put it

Good to hear it was an inexpensive repair!:thumb:
