Hopefully this will not be considered an "advertisement". It's for a position we've got available that could be pretty much a dream job for the right person.
Community Relationship Specialist
If you are a motorcycle fanatic (especially a BMW Motorcycle fanatic) here's your chance to have what could be the coolest motorcycle related job on the planet, while working at the most renowned and respected BMW Motorcycle dealer around. Google “BMW Motorcycles” or “BMW Motorcycle Parts” That’s us, right at the top. A&S BMW Motorcycles.
If you live in the Sacramento California area, or are willing to relocate (no relocation funds are available for the position however) and are interested in what could be an absolute dream job for the right person.
Here's what you need:
• A valid CA motorcycle license and a clean riding record with significant safe riding experience (been around the world on a GS? We need to talk!)
• You really should have a BMW Motorcycle in your stable (Late model is even better)
• Active BMW fanatics will be given a strong preference!
• Strong writing ability. U gotta rite gooder then teh avrage dood OMG.
• You have to love hanging out with, and interacting with (in person, online, etc.) other motorcycle enthusiasts... (While getting paid for it... Seriously)
• You need to have demonstrated experience in on-line communities. For instance, if you spend most of your free time reading from, and posting to, on-line forums and message boards, or you write and operate your own blog, we need to talk.
• Some technical skills in the area of creating web pages/sites and/or graphic design skills would be a really strong plus.
• Squidz and Stunterz need not apply
Here’s some of what you’d be doing:
• Design, organize, and operate events at the dealership and outside of the dealership (Open houses, track days, rallies, rides, etc.)
• Attend motorcycle events as the official representative of our dealership
• Organize, design, maintain out-of-shop vehicle displays
• Design, develop, and maintain on a regular basis the official dealership blog/forum
• Write content for our regular e-mail newsletters
• Develop, and publish content for our e-commerce website
• A large portion of this position is a PR (public relations) type of role, so if you have experience in that area, that would be a plus.
This position is full-time with some weekends and other flex-time requirements. Includes vehicle related benefits.
Please respond with:
• A compelling story about why you’d be a good fit for this position
• A current resume & completed application from here: http://www.ascycles.com/A&S_application.doc (don’t worry about the signature, just email it completed)
• Salary requirement
Respond to employment@ascycles.com
We are an equal opportunity employer.

Todd

Not sure how you are going to fill that job, sounds way too hard and too much work. Can I commute from CT? Man if you were only closer.

Let me tie grifscoots to a tree, give him a bottle of water (oh alright, whisky :p ), hand him my wife, kids and dogs, burn the house down and I'll be there in 1/2 day!! :D
Assuming grif doesn't get there first....hey, I think I see smoke!
I resemble some of those qualifications. Maybe its time to attempt a career change, your right about the "dream job" if one loves bikes.
That'd beemee  I'm not too far away either, workin' down in SOCAL.

Todd,
I'll be stopping by your place in a few weeks, while riding the country on my '06 GT. http://s3.amazonaws.com/advrider/ricky.gif Maybe we should grab a cup of coffee and talk. Seriously talk. I believe that I meet all of the requirements (except for the CA license... http://www.k-bikes.com/forums/images/smilies/sleep.gif (http://www.k-bikes.com/forums/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)), and this really sounds appealing to me. Now we just have to see if the other 9,987 things line up. ;) I'm certainly HATING northeast Ohio at the moment. I can't wait to pull out of this frozen Hell in two weeks.
I'll call you when I have a better idea about my arrival date/time.

Joe, would you believe I actually tried to contact Todd by PM, but it appears he actually wants someone who already lives in CA

I just said that the commute across the ocean may be onerous for you and your bike. Unless you were looking for a use for your personal Concord. :D
As far as living in CA, I'm more than willing to entertain folks that don't live in CA now, but you will have to live around our shop for the job, and we don't have anything to offer in the way of relocation so if you were to move here, it would be up to the candidate to determine if this position was worth it.
I know for instance that when I lived in MI several years ago, with my personal circumstance at the time, I would have jumped at this opportunity to do this job and would have happily moved out for it. Again, the relocation aspect is totally up to the individual.

With those claims "coolest, most renowned, most respected" I would love to talk with you.
If the above is true, I don't think, $500K per year with full benefits to include motorcycles ,fuel and remote location lodging would be asking to much.
If your company is in position to offer this type of compensation package, feel free to get in touch with me.

Thank goodness Rock took down his previous avatar that could have affected things on the job frontThing is, Rock could do that job and he would do it well. Beneath that uh, ... somewhat ... non-traditional first impression that he presents (I refer to the "Do I Look Like A @#$&ing People Person?" T-shirt) is a knowledgeable, articulate, and friendly person, and an experienced motorcyclist and motojournalist.
I say Rock, give it a go. Just remember your friends when you're rich and famous.
OK, just famous. And not that in-famous kind of "famous". :D

Good call Joe ;)
The tat shop will do fine I built it up to run itself over the years while I'm out on the road.
However since they can't even swing the funds for relocation, how well can the place be doing?
Since there was nothing in the offer about profit sharing or ownership percentage. I doubt that I'll drop what I'm doing to go and build their business for them, this ain't my first rodeo.
While the money thing is not that important, you have to have some motivational aspect for something of this stature.
Where 70-100 hours a week mean nothing as you watch the little milestones pass on your way to building what you envision! :D
