How important is 600 mile on new GS

My wife's new f650gs is coming up on it's 600 mile breakin maint. thingy. I am in the process of rebuilding my lt and I am not much in the mood for a 200 mile round trip for this. my questions, will this void the warrenty do they do anything beside change the fluids and kick the tires?

600 miles isn't written in stone but it is a good idea to get it done fairly soon, you don't want the fine particles found in a new engine floating around too long. It is possible to do it yourself, just keep receipts and records for warranty puposes.
