I am on my 3rd BMW unit and will change to a Hyperpro unit this time. I know some have replaced with this unit, and want to get comments fron the users of this brand whether the active or non-active works best.

I don't know how you would define "best", but I went with the adjustable model. After I put it on, I spent a few weeks playing with the settings. I finally settled in on dialing it up just over half way and haven't moved it since. They are the same price, $299, so why not the adjustable?

I would agree with Malcom, I have my set at 9 or 10 clicks. Took a while as i made adjustments one ride at a time. Made a noticable difference.
Used to get a little wagging of the handle bars just before a stop, smoothed this out and provided a very positive "feel"
Worth the $$ in my book. Also have the Wilbers. makes a very nice set up in my book.

Malcom and Tom,
Hyperpro tells me there is no damper available for pre 2003 LT's. Obviously that is not correct. Do either of you have the part number you ordered?

I don't have the receipt in my email, so I’ll look for the paper copy when I get home. I can’t figure out why ’03 would be a year to reference with regard to the damper. IIRC braking changed for ’03, but the steering didn’t change until ’05. By the way I just ordered mine on line from the link above and it installed with no problem (the damping kit included the mounting hardware).

According to the info in the link, they both are adjustable through 22 steps.
Are you saying that you got the "Active" or progressive instead of linear action version?

Here is the part number for my 2000LT:
011426
I also ordered the mounting kit #MK-BM12-0001
This states for model 2003 >
I hope to install it either this weekend or next when I change out my front tire.

Yes I got the active version. I guess my typing was getting ahead of my brain (the problem is I don’t really type that fasthttp://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon11.gif).
