Guys,

For the first time since I bought the bike home in Jan I had a chace to try out my "new to me" 04 LT. I have to say it was one of the nicest things I have ever riden. My ABS lights started to do the wig wag sequence while I was out riding. After 5 minutes it went out, and then when I came back into the city they came back. I checked the front sensor and found that it was way over the max clearance feeler guage. Back one was fine. Brake fluid levels seems good. Battery is new. Would it be safe to think that I have found the cause? Weather has turned nasty again and I have to wait to try it out once I adjust the sensor.

While it is not inconceivable that the sensor gap could be causing these symptoms, low brake fluid is normally the culprit. I have had this several times and adding fluid to the reservoir cures the problem for me. I usually find that the lights start to flash when the weather turns cooler.

There are two separate chambers in the reservoir and it seems that the back one is always the one that I have to add fluid to. It is difficult for me to see the fluid level in the rear chamber unless I remove the right side panel above the passenger foot peg. The fluid really needs to be right at the maximum line.

Had the same issue with mine...the light would flash then stop when I made a turn. It was the low brake fluid thing. There is a site window if you open your right panier and check it with a flashlight. To get to the reservoir, lift the front seat, remove the rear seat and remove the right metal panel that the passenger foot peg is on and you will see the reservoir. It has two caps. remove each and fill with DOT 4 fluid to the full mark. It doesn't seem possible but just a tiny bit low will caus ethe ABS lights to blink.
