View Full Version : Confession of a compulsive shopper who can't see the light...

Hello,

My name is Brian and I am a compulsive buyer...

During the winter when I had the jones for all things motorcycle and no opportunity for riding, I followed this board religiously and read with great interest all of the glowing reviews of HID lighting. Then from above came the group buy...nothing more resistable than a discount...so, what's my problem?

I have no idea how to put the &^$%&^% in!

I continually over-estimate my mechanical abilities and am, at heart an optimist.

Is there anyone in the Chicago burbs who can help me? I will but drinks, make sandwiches, setup the horshoe pit...anything!

Any tech sessions planned for Chicago or the area?

Your help as always is appreciated!

Brian

Brian, Not sure which HID you bought but it doesn't make any difference except for the hole size you drill in headlight cover. Go to the Accessories, Gadgets and Gear forum, sub forums Lighting, there you will find all the info you need.

The CQ and the Gtec install the same way only difference is the hole size in the housing, or ride to Michigan April 14th and I will help you put it in at the S.E. Mich. Tech Session.

Brian,
I installed the HQ kit from the group buy on Saturday. Don't make me an expert but... the first one worked.

I live west of Rockford so if no one else chimes in, bring her out and we will see what we can do.

I am from Lafayette Indiana, which is about a 2 1/2 hour ride from you, depending on where in Chicago you live. Like you, I am mechanically challenged in general, and electrically challenged in particular. HOWEVER, there is another LT rider in Lafayette (billd, from this web site) who helped me install my HID low beams one day, plus a bunch of other things too, including an canisterectomy, installation of Motorlights, and moving my tour pack back. I have a feeling if you wrote him, he would be more than happy to help you with your HID installation, and since he as now done two of them (his and mine) We can probably do it in less than two hours. If you want his email address, pm me and I will give it to you. jrlakin
