I am thinking about selling my 2000 LT and upgrading maybe to a GT. Would It be smarter for me to remove most of my accessories and selling them separately? Or should I keep it all together and sell as is?
Easily removed accessories:
Dauntless Hitch
BMW Adjustable Passenger Floorboards
Rick Mayer Heated Seats
Back-Up Backrest
Bag Liners
Bike Cover - BMW
There are many other upgrades but not practical to remove.

Jim,
I just recently sold my K12RS (Monique will be removed from my list shortly) and I sold her on Ebay last November(not that recent I guess). Before I listed her with ALL options (about 2500.00 worth) and she didn't hit the reserve. I then defarkled her and sold her again, she hit reserve in first week, and then I sold all the accessories...I got about 1800 out of the 2500 invested...not a bad return.
On things like windscreens, typically they sell better separate
Your passenger floorboards...definitely sell them separate as they are a desired item by current LT owners...and some buying your LT wouldn't know the value and importance...let alone want to pay extra for them.
The Dauntless Hitch... sell separetely...as I KNOW that will sell on here in less than an hour... Hans can attest to that for you.
If you have the stock Seats...you can put them back on the bike...and then sell the upgraded seats separate....although...this would be one of the 2 items in your list I would leave on the bike.
The backrest sell separate...again, a much desired Item on this forum...and Ebay loves them.
The bag liners...again...go to the fact that new LT owners that may not be "up" on LT items...and great accessories such as the liners may not want to fork over anything else in addition to the bike price.
The bike cover...I would say half a dozen of one...and 6 of the other.. Bike covers are fairly cheap..although yours is the BWM version and not the 30.00 model on Ebay. This would be the second on your list I would let go with the bike.
HTH
By selling separetly you tend to find a BIGGER market as you reach the LT community rather than just someone looking to be part of it.

Dauntless Hitch
BMW Adjustable Passenger Floorboards
Rick Mayer Heated Seats
Back-Up Backrest
Bag Liners
Bike Cover - BMW
I'd be interested in the Dauntless hitch. Are you selling a trailer too? I might be interested in that as well.
Also, I would spring for the Rick Mayer and Back-up, but they're probably not within my fiscal boundaries (as Airhawk is). :o
If you post your items on this forum, I'm sure people will spring for them. However, on the same token, comfort farkles like your custom seat and floorboards, plus a hitch*, make a great selling point. I'm not sure if you'd get your money back selling the bike as is - it might just be an easier sell.
*When I began shopping last Spring, I had a chance to buy an LT with a hitch on it already. I assumed "a hitch on a motorcycle? is he nuts?? that's gotta mean wear and tear." I went with the other LT. Little did I know how badly I'd want a trailer after a year of riding. You might not want to divulge that information to possible owners - consider removing the hitch before selling? Just a thought...

Ryan makes a valid point....much like looking for a truck and looking the bed and seeing where a 5th wheel hitch USED to be....made me choose another truck..
Ofcourse...he MIGHT be trying to get first in line on some items.. :p
He just validates my point....financially you will make more separate.....leave it all together...and you may sell your bike quicker...but not for near as much.
Depends on your situation.... first and foremost.... not sure why you would sell your LT for a GT....everyone knows the GTs aren't as fast.. :D Ask Messenger to chime in....he's a trait...I mean he converted....haha.
Good luck on whatever you decide to do.. But I Gots Dibs on the liners and Floorboards!!! ;)

Sure I'm trying to get in line for the hitch ;) :D
I absolutely agree with what Bill said. People here, passionate LT owners, know the value of some of those things. If the guy who sold me mine said, "Here are the passenger floorboards, this is the custom Rick Mayer with the Back-up seat, and here is a Dauntless hitch..." I woulda probably look at him like  and said "I don't want those for the extra grand." Fortunately, that wasn't the case in my purchase.
What really stinks for the buyer's sake is that in a years time, he will learn that those things are indeed the farkles you want to buy, and he's going to have to purchase them brand new.
But honestly, small cars and motorcycles aren't meant to tow. That doesn't mean they cant... but if you saw 2 Camrys for sale, same mileage, and one had a trailer hitch... which would you buy? I see Accords, Camrys, and the like towing all the time.
Back to the GT - I guess the biggest thing for me not even considering the GT switch is no RADIO!! AHHHH!! At least look into an R12RT or something!

When I bought my LT, It came with 2 sets of Motolights, Luggage rack, EX Jpegs, Meyer seats, backrest, plus a lot of other little things...that didn't mean jack to me...like the 6disc, CB PTTs....etc. FORTUNATELY the original owner traded it in at the dealership(he did all the add-ons) a gal and her bfriend bought it...they broke up 10days later...and it sat in her garage since it was in her name...it sat there for a year before I bought it... she didn't know ANYTHING about the farkles, etc.. So, she sold it to me below book... which is a good thing as I didn't know anything was Extra on the bike besides the motolights(have them on all my bikes).didn't discover the Jpegs for 2weeks, didn't discover the seat until I replaced the battery....etc.
So.. unless you are selling to a current LT owner....those things would not "stand out" ...and selling to a current LT owner is slim...given the age of yours. Most, like myself with an oldie...want the 05 or newer...that is a big Heifer to get on the center stand!!
I am waiting for Ari's bike to sell..... why don't you ask him how much he has IN his bike....and then ask him what he could sell it for....NO where NEAR what he has in it. HOwever, a farkle lover like myself...would rob a bank to buy his. :D
Segregation of Farkle and Body....that's what I say!!

Them slow GT's may not have a radio, but it is a piece of cake to add XM, Garmin w/XM or an ipod.

Jim,
If you decide to separate the items, and the BMW Adjustable Passenger Floorboards are chrome, I will take them.
Thanks,
