Thanks to Bruce Harris, Jim, Brian, Marc, Bob, and a couple other helpful hands, the LT now as a new set of Ohlin shocks. Seems pretty straightforward when watching someone who knows what they are doing. Thought I'd post some pictures of the event in case anyone is interested.

Joel -
2 questions - how long did the install take, and how do you like 'em?!

3 hours not including the tupperware removal and reinstall. The Ohlin instructions are pretty funny. Something like - remove the sliver disk around the ignition and install front shock. Of course, to get to the silver disk, you have to take off the plastic on the handle bars and the stingray. To get to the stingray, you have to take the top panels off. For the rear, just the side panel and passenger peg panel.
I decided to do a valve check while I had the tupperware off, discovered 4 too tight but didn't have time to do that this past weekend (there's a whole nother story about not cross threading your bolts which I also got a painful lesson in), left it for next weekend, bike still in pieces in the garage, so don't know yet how I like the shocks.

Joel, thanks.
The reason I asked was because you were able to position the hydraulic pre-load adjuster in the same way the original was.
I have a 2005 and was not able to, having to leave it at an angle, although it does lay flat, but very close to the battery.
Anybody else have this problem or is it only me ?.
