Friends,

Although I am aware that there are posts that address this problem, I wanted to expand on what I have read here. Others have discovered that flickering lights that begin when the engine is revving upwards of 2500 rpm can be traced to a loose bolt that holds the starter in position. The starter provides the ground path for the current that energizes the load relief relay. This relay feeds a number of systems on the K12LT. Among these systems is the turn signal flashing unit. If the starter is loose, it will make intermittent contact with the engine. This causes the load relief relay to chatter, causing the lights to flicker, the signals to cancel, the radio to misbehave, and possibly other symptoms. This bolt is tough to reach, requiring removal of the fuel tank, and some ginger fingerwork. Be sure to use some Loktite (blue would be best) so that the bolt doesn't work its way loose again. Have fun with this one!
