:bmw: Since I have purchased this bike new I have had a problem with the cruise control. It works perfectly in warm temperatures and does not work at all when it gets cold. If I am traveling from cold to warm or vice versa the magic temperature seems to be about 65 degrees. If the sun is out it works a little sooner--before I reach 65 degrees. I have had this problem since day one (2002) but did not figure out the problem until after warranty. My dealer replaced the entire unit on the handlebar and it did not change a thing. Has anyone had this problem and figured out how to solve it? BMW doesn't seem to interested.

I had the same intermittent issues with my '02's cruise control. All of the issues went away once the throttle cables were replaced, adjusted properly, and then zip-tied into place.

I was having that problem before I took Rover in for the final drive failure. They put the new cables on as part of the extra work I was having them do.

This is a well known snag. Mines the same but I just put up with it. Have a search on the forum for solutions!

No, don't put up with it ! Adjust it !! The cable play is super important, while you're riding along and every thing is at operating temps, there is a noticeable play in the throttle from closed to "more closed" If that isn't obvious then the CC will not be happy. The LT is a fantastic ride, don't be fobbed off by so so mechanics. (Just back from a 3 day jaunt, can't stop smiling)

Same here. My 2002 will not work if the temps drop too far. Sometimes I can set it but it will not resume.

After you run through the diagnostic test (on this site) and all sensors are working as they should (this shouldn't be your problem), as said above, adjust the cables. Even just a slight movement of the cables can alter cruise function.
