Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this portable xm radio. I need a radio for my GS and would like to run it to helmet speakers. Would like to know if it has enough volume at highways speeds. Thanks for any replies, Pete

This is the best radio that XM makes in terms of internal antenna reception. You will still need to run the audio signal through a booster of some sort. You can pick one up at Radio Shack for $25. Its about the size of a hot dog and takes 2 AA batteries.

When you say a booster what exactly do you mean? I would not have to directly connect the output of the booster to the comm system? Would the booster act as a signal amplifier yet without a connection directly to the comm system?

I just found a cyclegadgets kit that may do the job but I wanted to see if someone has used it first and what the results are.

k1201ltc,

It didn't sound like Pete had a com system on his GS. Helmet speakers need extra power to overcome wind noise, thus use the booster/amplifier. Connecting XM to amplifier to speakers, you don't connect to the com system.
