A friend is trying to convert a ".est" file from MS Street & Trips 2007 into a ".gpx" file that can be read by Mapsource. He has found a couple of programs on the web, st2gpx and GPSBabel, but cannot get either to work.

Any advice on how to achieve this?

Boy pls let me know if you do find a way to do this reliably. S&T is so far ahead of Map Source with respect to route planning. The difference is like the difference between a new MAC and a pre-windows PC.

I use that software to take maps from Streets and Trips format to a .usr format (for the Lowrance gps). works great

Here is the note from my mate:
"Being a freeware version, it has some limitations, even moreso than the "readme" says. The site advises that the freeware version is limited to 100 waypoints, but every time I run it there is a message saying that it is limited to 24 waypoints, and some other messages I have yet to understand. My total USA-Canada route won't convert completely, but when I break it up into daily segments it is ok.
Interesting looking at the differences in the routes that Mapsource and MS Streets create using the same parameters.
There are also differences in the Lat/Long positions of some hotels we are staying at"

So, seems to be successful, many thanks everyone.
