The annual Red River Round Up (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18523) is coming up again on May 17th - 20th. As in years past we're looking to see who's interested so we can set up a route and get accommodations.
Last year enroute we toured the SW and visited Monument Valley, the ET hwy, Lake powell and AZ infamous Hwy 191. We also had a great 3 room cabin in Red River which ran less than $50 nightly a piece. See the link above for the goings on at Red River, it's a great get together with the SW & Texas Boyz and Galz.
Currently this year Dan A and myself are attending but taking different route there. Dan's heading North to visit with friends, so my route's wide open. I've traveled the SW extensively and I'm open to explore anywhere in between here and there. Planning on heading out on Saturday May 12th and getting to Red River on Wednesday the 16th. Trip home will be Sunday-Monday.
Chuck and Mike H have expressed interest so far, just let me know if you can go. Also let me know what your interested in visiting and I'll start setting up some routes and places to stay.

Highly recommend Johns Red River Tour Service.
Interesting mountian venue (ski resort town with 10000ft pass just up the road and lots of green trees (NM is not all desert)
Perfect time of year for the area as temps last year maxed out at 86 degrees.
Probably not attending (never say never) this year as we are leaving for Alaska the firsr week of June.

By the way, I saw an envelope from the hotel in the new mail stack before we headed for the coast.
So that is probably the reservation confirmation.

Hey Raf,
Sorry about that. I wanted to go to the dinner, but needed to get the packing completed. I wanted to see how it all worked with one extra day to spare if I had to make adjustments.
By the time I got it all sorted out it was too late to make it. I'll have to get that from you when I return. If you need to get paid, pm me the amount and I can Pay Pal to to you.
I am ready. The bike is gassed up, washed, packed and ready to go. I hope to be out by 6AM tomorrow.
I have started a little blog to post updates and pictures if I get any good ones, so I will post here once I get something up there to see.
See those of you who are going in Red River on Thursday. See the rest of you in a couple of weeks.
I am excited!

The run today was great. 12 hours door to door, which included a 1 hour breakfast with a friend in Reno, and about 45 minutes in Winnimucca getting lunch, and reconfiguring the jackets etc. as it had reached 80 by noon.
Clear skies with a few clouds, as high as 84 in a few spots, but genreally from 77 to 82 all afternoon.
The GoldWing ran smooth all day, and even got over 40 mpg on the last fill up, the Russell seat wasn't too bad, so all in all, a great 546 miles.
I am ready for sleep. :histerica
