View Full Version : Garmin MapSource City Select and VISTA

My Version CD 7 will install on vista but it would not run. Says to reinstall, tried repair, uninstall/reinstall but that didn't help. (I thought I could install it put the key codes in and run update from the help about screen).

Plan B.

Installed from CD and put in the activation Key, then downloaded MapSource_6116.exe dated Feb 1 from the Garmin site downloads page. Installed it OVER my current install and it now works. Just FYI for those going to VISTA.

When I first installed Vista, I had to run it in Administrative mode until I downloaded and installed version 6.11.6. It now works normal.

Like Mike said, install the newest Mapsource update from the Garmin website. It will work fine, except for help. As of the Vista release, Microsoft has stopped shipping the Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe) with the O/S. This program is used for many legacy program's help files. Though Microsoft promised a fix by the consumer release of Vista, none has been offered yet.
