Recently at the Toronto motorcycle show I spoke with a Ducati sponsored long distance rider who used to ride BMWs and switched to Ducati because ??? anyway, he was a previous 2 time winner of the iron butt and was/is now riding a ducati multistrada and had just completed a record ride on it from Vancouver to Halifax in 57.4 hrs.

So, his LD credentials seemed solid to me.

THe lights that he had secured to the fairing at almost the same height as the headlamp were on an ABS articulated arm and from a manufacturer in Australia called Light Force, They are available in the USA and Canada and, Canadian they are $285 for the base model.

He said for night driving and conspicuity they were, in his opinion, the best at the price.
They look very impressive on the website and get generally great reviews and am leaning towards them for a spring installation.
www.lightforce.com (sorry don't know how to attach a link to this thread)

I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with them or other thoughts?

Much Obliged,

JS

Gary is no doubt top notch !
One of my LDR Junky riding partners swears by this light. I have rode side by side and did note it does work well. For 2 X the moola you can go with PHID or Hellia micro DE HID driving lights . Those 2 will perform noticeable better than the LF setup.
The LF are not aerodynamic and can reduce MPG. I would go HID driving light and invest one time ,remember you can transfer to your next bike.

I think you'reright about the mileage. Gary had said that he thought it reduced his MPG by about 2 - 3 MPG.
But, if they are good according toyour friend and gary then why the ned to spend the extra money?

There are also lights that are even still better than the HID's and even more money, too.

Just for the record, the only "two time Iron Butt winner" was not Gary Eagan. Gary did win the '95 'Butt, but that was his only win. He has ridden the rally 4 times, finished 2 and won one of those. He switched from a BMW K1100LT to a Ducati when they, (Ducati), offered him a pretty much full-ride sponsorship for the '01 event, (the one where he crashed out in the first hour of the event). He subsequently went to work full time for Ducati, which is why he will never have anything negative to say about them.
