A few of you joined me last year for the annual Blue Butt Rally in Reno. This year, in addition to the usual 250 and 500-mile routes, the Reno chapter has agreed to offer a 1,000 mile route completely within the state of Nevada. This will be a great opportunity for those of you who have been thinking about joining the IBA to do so, while at the same time helping the Blue Knights support a local charity. For those of us who already are IBA members, here’s our chance to earn our in-state Nevada pins.

Nevada II’s website is at: http://www.bknv2.com, there is a link to the Rally information, but it has not yet been updated, and does not reflect the 1,000-mile route. Also, final details are still being worked out with the venue, probably the Peppermill. So, for now, just save the dates if you are interested.

Riders’ meeting: Friday evening, August 17, 2007
Rally: Saturday, August 18, 2007

Hey, Tom, we missed you, today! Like last year, I'll do the 250, and plan on hooking up with you guys up there.

Don't forget, we have to celebrate Tonya's birthday at the Green River on Friday night!

I thought about you guys today, hope it was a blast. (CA 7 had its annual Sweetheart ride). But, I’m stuck at work. Really. I’m out at our south sub-station right now doing reports, and just checked in on the board.

And yes, dinner on the night of the riders’ meeting will probably be at the Ruby River again. Knowing Woz and Tonya, all will be welcome.

This just in from the rally master:
Tom,

I signed the contract with the Peppermill Casino last week and everything is in motion for the BB. They gave us a room rate of $94/night which may or may not be attractive but that's the way it goes sometimes.

If you want to be one of the first to get a room call 1-866-821-9996 and mention group code GBK0807. The dates are August 17 & 18.

I've also sent in the changes to our flier to have it include the 1,000 mile class.

Later,

Jim

Sounds good looking forward to seeing you at the BB. I have a room set for the Silver Legacy. After the BB I got to go back to Sac to pick up Mary Lou and figure that it would be easier to stay where the conference is being held.

I understand. The Legacy actually has a cheaper rate. I'm paying for the convenience of being at the rally HQ, and not commuting between the two properties. I'll check-in to the Legacy on Sunday after a few hours sleep.

I attached the entry form. They ask for a club name. What should we put?

.
The entry form should be updated soon to include the 1,000-mile class, but I doubt it will cause any problem if you add it yourself, and send it in now.

As for what club to put, please use: Blue Knights CA 7. (or CA VII). Oakland HOG took the club participation award last year. So, for the purposes of this rally you all are temporary, honorary, Knights! ;)

We are two weeks out from the Blue Butt. I know both Nathan, and Paul have told me that things have come up and they won’t be going. So, with that adjustment, here is the current list:

1. Roger - rspyder
2. Hal
3. Bruce
4. Mike (Bushwhacker)
5. Tom
6. John
7. Mark
9. Bill and Nancy (BillyOmaha & BillysDaisy)

I’d like to get up to the Peppermill kind of early, maybe by 2:00ish. Our rooms may not be ready, but I understand they have a place where they serve cold beverages while you wait. http://techhelpers.net/e4u/drink/trink39.gif Anyone up for meeting at A&S at about 11:00, departure around 11:30, with a lunch stop on the way?

I figure the same route we did last year: I 80 to Truckee; 267 to Kings Beach; 28 to 431 and over Mt. Rose to 395; into Reno, and to the Peppermill from the south.

Remember, a riders’ meeting at 7 PM that night. Afterwards we are all welcome to a no-host dinner and drinks across the street at the Ruby River steakhouse with some of my Knight friends.

The 2007 Blue Butt is history. Mark, Mike, and I ran the 1,000. Bill and Nance ran the 250. Nathan and John, well, they came for the beer. http://tinyurl.com/e3np7

Mike and I are up here in Reno for a few more days for our BK convention. I hope the rest of you had a good and safe ride home.

Thanks to Tom for inviting us and the Blue Knights that put on this event. Nancy and I had a blast.

We ran into the 1000 milers getting dinner at the end of their run at 11:30 PM was a hoot as well.

Mike is going to have change his name to "Road-Killer". Seems a crafty dead coyote jumped in front of him on the 1000 miler ;)

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto.

The 1,000 mile group before the ride, Tom riding along Hwy 318 and a BBQ place I found on 95 in the middle of nowhere.
