Folks,

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse on where to mount the 2820, map light or stingray seem to be the two main locations. However, I have a question for those who mounted their GPS up by the maplight: Now that various GPS units have XM and MP3 functionality, which require periodic adjustments, do you still feel that the map lght location is still "best"? It seems to me that having to reach to the maplight area to adjust the XM or MP3 is a pretty far reach while you are underway. i can understand the desire to have the GPS located just below the normal field of vision but I am concerned that working the controls would be rather difficult.

Let me know your thoughts, trying to get a GPS mounted in time to go to Daytona for bike week! Thanks.....

Bill

Good question, my thoughts as well. I am curious of the answers. I am going to put mine on the left handlebar as a first shot. If that is too far out of sight (but very accessable) then I will opt for the stingray.

I have my 2730 mounted on a BMR Copilot shelf. I find the XM radio features to small for my "old eyes". I ride with trifocal thumb print glasses to view the GPS and have no problems using the menu items. I preset the XM station I want while stopped as the areas on the XM screen are sort of small to poke with a gloved hand when you are just doing a quick look. The reach is not the problem, it is aiming your finger to hit the correct spot. Do a mockup of the GPS and try it it out before your final installation.
