I do not have, or wish to have, an intercom system. I occasionally use an XM with wireless modulator, through the LT's FM radio. I have removed the CD changer to make room in the side trunk.

I recently acquired a Garmin 2730. I haven't wired or mounted it yet, but can see I will need one of the motorcycle wiring harnesses. Does the Garmin motorcycle harness eliminate the speaker that is part of the standard GPS electrical connection?

What is the easiest way to connect the GPS audio to the LT's speakers? Can I wire it into an auxiliary jack? Connections? I'm willing to turn off the FM radio when the GPS audio is being used.

With the motorcycle harness you should be able to hook up to an aux jack. You will need to find the an extension & plug to fit, Radio Shack has plenty. You will just need to switch to aux. when you need to use the GPS audio. I had mine set up that way on my Wing, worked good.

Where is the aux input on the LT audio? What kind of physical connection is it?

If I buy the BMW bracket/harness kit, does it plug into the aux that way, or is it some other kind of audio interface?

I believe I have the following correct...if not someone will chime in.........
using the mode button on your radio control, determine if you have an "AUX" position. If yes, you can get the harness from bavarian Autosport (made for BMW cage radio) which plugs into the back of your radio and ends in a female connector for jack............from there it's either the right size for your GPS or a radio shack project ...................

The easiest solution might be to use the FM ability of the Garmin? Works great on my car, and on the LT in the garage. Can't try it out actually riding the bike for another 3 months.....sigh.
