I have been following the news in Boston about this advertising scheme that turned the city upside down. Curious about other's thoughts?
Mine:
I know I / we don't live there and are Monday Morning Q.B'ing but I think the city of Boston went WAY over the top on this thing. Once they determined the first one or two of these things were toys and not a bomb or even a fake bomb they should have shut it down. Nine other cities had the same thing and nothing was said or done. I think they are pushing the prosecution of the two guys and the ad agency just because they went to far initially and now they can't save face. What was the intent of the ad agency? Were they advertising or trying to scare the $hit out of people? What is the element of any crime if there was one? Dumb idea maybe, but look at the advertising Time Warner is getting out of it. The Million they are paying back to Boston is a drop in the bucket compared to the free publicity their show is getting. I know I had never heard about it till this.
My final thought is: It is what it is, an advertising ploy, not a hoax, not a terroristic act, and certainly no crime was committed.
