The Forth Annual West Coast Rendezvous will be held in Beautiful Grants Pass Oregon which is in the heart of the Rogue River Valley. This year we have a local couple Vince and Melinda Weidig (Bayliner2052) and Dan Kienle (reelman) from the PNW that have graciously volunteered to be our hosts for WCR 2007. Vince and Melinda have secured accommodations at the (Update hotel change - do not reserve here) Holiday Inn Express Grants Pass. (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hotel/graex?rpb=hotel&crUrl=/h/d/hi/1/en/availsearch&ias=y) (Update hotel change - do not reserve here) Camping is also an option for some in our group. Indian Mary Park (http://www.rogueweb.com/indianmary/) offers one of the best campsites in Oregon and is right on the Rogue. Reservations are definitely required.
Some of the advantages to Grants Pass, and southern Oregon, starts with the warm weather in June; also some of the best rides in Oregon are just a very short ride from town (Crater Lake <100mi, Oregon Caves <50mi and the southern Oregon coast at just over 100 mi) and some of the best dual-sport roads on the west coast. There is jetboating (http://www.hellgate.com/Splash/) on the Rogue as well as rafting (http://www.galice.com/) adventures. Ashland has the Shakespeare Festival with the Tempest (http://www.osfashland.org/browse/production.aspx?prod=52&perf=2064) on Friday evening and the Taming of the Shrew (http://www.osfashland.org/browse/DayCalendar.aspx?date=6/16/2007#sub) on Saturday for some added entertainment.
WCR 2006 will again basically be a loose and unorganized ride to meet the other great members of the board out here on the West Coast and do some riding! There will be no Official sign ups or entry fees but please respond if you make hotel reservations and plan to attend the Saturday Dinner so we may get head counts. Along with Saturday Dinner we have a Friday night meet & greet and lots of unorganized rides!
We will be looking for a few door prizes, so if you have a good rapport with your local dealer see if you can work a gift certificate out of them for the event. This event would not be possible without this great BBS, so we will pass the hat for any voluntary donations that we can squeeze out...............
Along with our Hosts Vince & Melinda Weidig and Dan Kienle - Please welcome John Fisher (Alaskafish), Ken Meese (Meese), they have joined Ernie Azevedo (ErineA) and myself (amarider) as unofficial organizers for WCR. Please feel free to PM any of us with your suggestions or questions. More info to come as it become available, but make your reservations early so we may expand the block of rooms if needed.
