I wonder who the all-time K1200LT farkle champ is? I have spent about $5300 on aftermarket goodies for my bike. but I think I am in the Little League compared to some. Come on and step forward. We promise we won't tell your wife how much you have spent.

If I have to ask, then obviously not enough. But only the ones I really, really need, dear. :-)

I'm looking forward to Ari's reply. :)
While some of his farkles are purchased, some are made from scratch and it could be difficult to place a price tag on them. Some of them are unique (e.g., the power seat device he fabricated).

Hey Howard, how are those big PIAA's you had installed at CCR?

About $2000 so far, but I've only had it less than two months.

Hey Howard, how are those big PIAA's you had installed at CCR?Hi Brett,
I had the Hella FF200s installed. They are big and they do the job. As I told Raffy when I was trying to select the right lights from all the choices he had for sale, I was looking for something that would light up way down the road, to show me deer, etc. -- obviously something that could not be used with oncoming traffic under any circumstances. They certainly do that. I've often thought about taking the camera out some night on a long, flat straight stretch of road to take pics of the low-beam, the stock high-beam, and then the Hella FF200s. Honestly, if I turn the Hellas on first I cannot see any difference when I turn on the stock high-beam. It's so embarassed by the Hellas hat it doesn't even show up for the party!
If I had to do it over again I'd think about going with the smaller Hellas (for less wind resistance), or the Phillips HIDs or something similar (for the absolute maximum down-the-road lighting, but those would be a lot more money). The Hella 200s have resulted in a 2-3 mpg loss. Yes, really. No complaints, though: they do the job.

Oh well, since this subject was brought up...:o
I have a very approximate bookkeeping of the money I have actually paid out and currently it says 9.739 euros (= about 12.000 usd) but not all small bit and pieces are calculated.
So I guess the real figure is about 10.500 - 11.000 euros. And a lot of the farkles are just my labor (like Howard mentioned) or good will from my friends or business associates. "varoom" gave me the motor for the seat adjuster, another LT-rider helped me with other parts of the mechanism. Jouko (my CCR buddy) made the fake exhaust pipe and one other biker made my luggage rack for the Dauntless hitch. And of course big thanks goes to a certain German / American address for helping me getting the shipments "nice and smooth" to Finland. Without him my bookkeeping would look still much worse...
I have not told my dear wife...;)

I've never found a reason to keep track of it. I buy what I think I need and if it works out, then I get more than my money's worth in enjoyment, if not... then I've grown a little wiser!

Over $20K.
Of course, that's what I consider my GT. Just an expensive farkle for my LT. :rotf:

I feel comfortable saying I've gone beyond the 5K event horizon but that's about it (I hope, scared to do the math!). Let's see: HIDs high and low, motolights, charge-guard, R/W chip, R/W chip upgrade w/ Remus exhaust, J-Pegs, J-Pegs upgrade, Mueth mirrors, K12RS mirrors, K40 laser diffuser, V1, XM - let me just stop before I realize that my "real" wife has two tires :eek: :)!!

I spent a bit over a grand... that I can remember. That does not include new tires, battery, new helmets, new gear, etc...
I will spend considerably more in the next few months in preparation for CCR. New shocks and a radar detector at the very minimum, maybe a custom seat...

It doesn't seem that anyone tallied in the farkle on the backseat :D
Or do you just count that when they leave :rotf:

Well, since you put that way Rock, I've spent more on farkles for the rear seat Farkle than I've spent on the LT and it's farkles. :)

Not that much compared to some of you guys,
but then I managed to get myself into a rather unique situation.
I bought Randy's 2005 LT with just about "every" farkle imaginable already "expertly" installed.:D :D

Interesting exercise. My rough calculations come in at around 5K, not including the paint job:eek: . If I add that in the number becomes embarrassing. But------its in Canadian dollars and we all know what they are worth:(

Hmm, not much. An intercom, HID low beam, helmet lock, mick-o-pegs, luggage rack and sheepskin covers. probably a $1000 more or less

It would be less if I did not have to get wiser along the way. Right now I have a J-peg on one side and a highway ottoman on the other. Really can't decide which I like better.
My wish list is $10,200, not including trailer -- and I am about 25% there. It is hell having too much disposable income. This from the guy that will drive an extra mile to save 10 cents on a tank of gas.

Hello, friend. ;)
I know, to the penny, how much I've spent on the LT. I'm just embarassed to share that with the world. :o

Just a quick brainstorm of what the LT has cost me... not including cost, sales tax, annual property tax, insurance, and fuel.
$2 for the fishing leaders to tether the mirrors, $250 for the J&M headsets, about $10 worth of sights-visited stickers inside the topcase, $80 for the Sayegh videos, $12 to bmwlt.com, $500 for the helmets, $500 for the cold suit, $100 for the mesh armor jacket, $120 for the boots, $100 worth of gloves, $125 for the Kermit chair, $25 for the BMWMOA membership, $50 for the vermont rally, $30 for BMW t-shirts, $100 for sunglasses, $20 for the tire pressur guage, $60 for the torque wrence, $10 for the driver set to remove the tupperware, $75 for the battery, $50 for the battery tender, $300 for the tires, $400 for the 6K maintenance, $1000 for the 12K maintenance, $300 for the WheelDock = $4,219.
I'm sure i've forgotten something in the past 2 years of ownership... but a nice exercise to keep track.

After Ari...
I had a list that I posted a little over a year ago. My total was over $10K.
This thread has reminded me to update the list of cars/trucks/boats/motorcycles and trailers I've owned since 1977.
