View Full Version : Do Long Jpegs Make Holes if Bike Dropped?

I have a 32" inseam and opted for the shorter straight Jpegs. I was told that the longer ones may make a hole in the tupperware if the bike is dropped. I now find the shorter ones are just not quite long enough to stretch out and I was wondering if the long ones due make a hole if the bike is dropped?

Thanks.

Yes, it could happen.

Several have experienced this unfortunately, including myself.

There are a few workarounds posted as well as some larger cams that will allegedly prevent the punching of a hole (You can get these from motogear4you.com for one).

Yes Sir, they sure punch a hole in the lower fairing. The reason is that the J-Peg touches the ground before the stock plastic bumpers.

Here is one (three times) tested fix to the problem, but it requires some trivial welding skills.

Another solution has been discussed in which the J-Pegs were installed on the top side of the plastic bumpers.

Hey Billy, I may have may have misspoken. I just went to Raffy's Accessories Site (http://www.motogear4you.com/index.html) and under the Comfort listing, there is an upgrade for the XLs. It is listed at the bottom of the page. Looks like Raffy is the one upgrading the kits he sells and not the J-Peg manufacturer. Sorry for the confusion. :o

Thanks. It does look like they have a solution to the problem.

Indeed, there's an upgrade kit for the Jpeg XLs. I wouldn't install them without it - runs about $45

re..."there's an upgrade kit for the Jpeg XLs"
How does the kit differ from the stop bolt?
I know I should just order it instead of just resolving to not drop the LT, but can someone explain how it works?

I have Raffy's upgrade kit. My bike has fallen over and it did as it was supposed to and didn't punch a hole in my fairing.
