I've been hanging out on this forum for about month and thinking about my next bike. BMW is at the top of my list. I have been daydreaming about the LT and RT. One maybe too big, the other too small. The GT has always looked good to me and maybe the right size. However, I've heard its not the most comfortable bike--- something about it being a long reach to the handlebars. I'm 5"11, 185LB, 33inch inseam and 33 inch sleeve length.
I take long rides --- 1000 miles a day is very common. Can this bike do the long haul without crippling the rider?

First, it really is all up to you personally. I am 6'1" and my knees dont like the riding position over about an hour. I have the lowering plates and 30mm barbacks as well, that give me another 1+ inch of leg room and moves them forward a bit. Even with these I still get a cramped in the knees. I LOVE the bike and have had sport bikes for years but as I get older (40 now) I am finding comfort to be more important than speed. I am leaning toward an LT now.....
For someone your size , if you are used to sport tourers (a la ST, FJR, Concours....) it will be right up your alley comfort wise. Coming off a cruiser, Wing, LT ...... wont be as comfortable. Coming off a sport bike ..... it will be very comfy .......
Absolutely GREAT machine though.....I rode mine back to back vs. '05 FJR and I liked my GT MUCH more.....and bought it!
Hope that helps.......
